  • Better quality than expected

The online pictures of this item don’t adequately show the high quality of this component. I was expecting it to have a lower end feel, look and build. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the solid build of this item as well as the finish and appearance. The only thing that threw me off is that one of the limit screws is angled. Initially upon inspection I thought it was a defect, or that it may have been bent in shipping. However, upon further inspection I was relieved to learn that it was not bent and designed to be angled that way. I have not tested the operation of this derailleur yet, but all the springs are providing good tension and all the pivot points move nicely (there is no play). This item lives up to legacy of Campagnolo components. I got the two toned silver model which blended nice with my silver legacy TA Specialties crankset. The medium cage with wheels spaced at about 70mm should work for most gearing applications. In my case I have a road triple so I’m welcoming the longer cage to my system. I have ridden on Campagnolo components since 1982 and I’ve always found the quality to be exceptional. I have found through experience that finish level (amount of polishing on silver components) and weight savings are the primary benefits of the higher end groups. Now days most components are black so it’s basically the weight difference between the higher level groups. With a few exceptions, such as ergo shift levers, I’ve found the lower group components to work just as well as as the upper groups.

  • Improved derailleur.

This is a huge improvement over older Campy derailleurs that would only shift 28 tooth. The long arm can shift a 34. Too bad you need 11 speed levers to use it. But the 11 speed levers are a huge improvement as well.
