comforting and easy read for children.

My granddaughter is five years old and after 16 years she lost her little Yorky Pooh. It is very sad for the whole family but I believe this book comforted her a little. I’m sure she enjoyed it and her mom and dad were pleased that I sent it to her. Thank you very much

    Dog Heaven

This book was recommended by an APHE member and I just lost my baby so I purchased it. I was shocked to read God feeding ham sandwiches to the dogs. Don't all animals become living beings in heaven or is God slaughtering pigs? I know there are kids bright enough to question this as I teach gifted. This us the reason for my okay ranking.

  • Out of Print, but NOT out of Sincerity

I found this book years ago in the kids section of a bookstore. Basically it’s a kids-eye view of what heaven is for a dog, but I found it so touching that it is my #1 gift for friends who are grieving the loss of their dog. This particular book, purchased on EBay, was advertised as used, but it was like new, and much cheaper than I could find anywhere else. It was a great purchase.

  • Great book for difficult period

Bought this book for our daughter-in-law who lost her 14 year old companion suddenly. She fell in love with it, crying yet healing. She said it brought her comfort during a most difficult time. Highly recommend it.

  • Comfort for loss of a beloved pet.

Though this book, and the companion - "Cat Heaven" - are children's books, they are a wonderful comfort to anyone who has lost a beloved pet. I received the cat one many years ago, and have made it my practice to give one to my friends when their pets die. This was for a friend who lost a very neglected old dog from a no-kill shelter in 2020. She gave him a great old age.

  • Sweet, touching message

As a teacher, I would read this book to the class when a child shared their pet died. I feel it brought them comfort. I recently gave my only copy to my daughter’s friend who tragically lost her beloved dog. She thanked me for the book and so I ordered another one to replace it. This book is designed for younger readers but the message is for everyone who has lost a beloved dog.

  • Sweet comfort

Dog Heaven offers comfort and reassurance to those whose hearts have been broken by the passing of a beloved pet. Both the story itself and the vivid illustrations paint a picture of kindness and contentment, where every dog-need is met. The book’s tenderness may move you to tears, but I guarantee that you will want to read it again and again.

  • Warm and Endearing.

This book is adorable- the drawings are simple, and God is the cutest! Every time I think about a dog that I have lost in the past, I go to this book. It makes me happy and sad at the same time- that good kind of sad that warms your heart a little at a time you need a warmer heart. This is the gift I give when a friend loses a dog, and I will continue to do so.

  • Lovely book

What a sweet story...it made me cry a little. Wonderful kids book to help them through the loss of a dog, but also comforting to adults in an odd way
