I purchased this product because it includes three of my all time favorite detectives from print, television and film. The Poirot and Marple I am sure I had seen before but most I did not remember. The Peter Cushing Sherlock Holmes dramas I had never seen before. These were very well done. The Poirot and Marple were excellent. I had a problem with the Miss Marple story The Moving Finger in that it stuck at the end of the story when she is explaining everything. All of the other dvds worked perfectly. The Peter Cushing Holmes stories were from a british television series from 1968. All the stories from each detective, in my opinion, stayed true to the novels from which they were adapted. This is a very important point for me. I have seen other adaptation of detective stories I had read not stay faithful or true to the written material. The latest Sherlock Holmes that came out with Robert Downey, Jr. is from the previews I saw in that class of not staying true and faithful to the character as written in the novels and short stories as written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. That is why I never went to see it or never will watch it on television. All of the adaptations in this collection are much better than that one will ever be. Other than the one problem described above with The Moving Finger there was nothing to dislike about this. David Suchet as Hercule Poirot and Jane Hickson as Miss Jane Marple are brought to life as I would have pictured them from reading the novels. Peter Cushing is good but I would not have pictured him in the role of Holmes. The Best Sherlock Holmes for me is Jeremy Brett from the PBS series. Sadly, the actor is no longer with us. The Poirot and Marple stories here are from the PBS series's. I just finished watching the last one today. I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys the three detectives presented.Read full review
Characters were fine, with great stories,color and clarity. The single flaw was that the mounting of one DVD was so tight that it actually cracked the disc on removal rendering it unplayable. I've found this a problem before with many DVDs, but this is the only one ever that actually cracked.
