Very happy with overall quality of the MacBook Pro. my wifes computer is newer than mine but she has battery problems! I don't! My keyboard lights up, the track pad is bar none the most responsive that I have ever used, she is literally getting carpal tunnel from all the had clicking and scrolling she does on her computer. Buy a Mac!! I will never own anything else from this point forward. You do need to set up for light tap on track pad in setting. This is small thing that is really a big thing for people truly using their computer all day.

The laptop shuts down immediately every time it gets unplugged, the mouse pad is slow to respond, and the computer itself is extremely slow. Pages don't respond and they take forever to load. Even doing things offline is frustrating. The clock resets itself to the wrong time when I start up the laptop every time. I'm a bit disappointed but I'm going to find a way to fix it hopefully.

When seeking out a robust laptop that was family tough, I saw the MacBook Pro as the best value. Sure it cost more up front, but I value my time and sanity more than the minor cost difference between it and a comparable Windows laptop. From a hardware perspective, simple things like the chassis being a heat sink instead of using a fan to cool the processor and the power cord being held on by a magnet are awesome. Both mean that I have two less failure modes to worry about. No more animal fur in the cooling fan or power cords wrapping around peoples ankles and crashing the laptop to the ground. The backlit keyboard is also amazing as it means we can use the laptop in low-light situations and still be able to find the keys. These are small design features but each one adds to my peace of mind. From the software perspective, my non-tech family members can do everything they want in a simple and intuitive way without needing me to work out every minor issue that would pop up with the other computers we have owned. Virus check this, Defrag drive that, "I'm sorry Dave but I can't do that right now". Since giving it to my daughter, I have not had a single "tech request" for normal things. She has even figured out how to use the Time Machine feature to back up her machine and restore deleted files after I made space on our Linux server for the Time Machine image. How many teenagers back up their hard drives? How many of those are not nerds? Apple's programmers have made the complex so simple, you don't have to have an engineering degree to set everything up. As another example, setting up our household network office printer with copier and fax was so easy it felt like it was done before I even started. The mac found the printer on the network once I let it know I there was a printer out there to use and configured it correctly without me having to do anything. At least if felt like I didn't have to do anything because I can't remember any of the required steps. It was actually kind of spooky how easy it was. In windows, I always had to load the driver CD, go through a 1 hour configuration on the driver and keep reminding the computer that the printer was really on the network and not attached to the USB port. Then the computer would always "forget" where it left the printer and then fill up the print spool instead of sending the print jobs to the printer. Of course my spouse's solution for that was to simply keep "printing" til the print spool was overwhelmed and then wonder why so many copies would pour out of the printer later in the day.Read full review
This is my first mac notebook. I bought a mac mini last year and just love it. I ended up hooking it to the television as a home theater PC and found myself in need of a computer at times when the mac mini was acting as TV. I was upgrading from a 2004 dell laptop to this and I'm just noticing some things that I'd like to point out if you have never had a mac laptop. Built in webcam that acts as an ambient light sensor when it gets brighter/darker in the room. Backlit keys. Touchpad/trackpad gestures that can be real time savers compared to a full keyboard (& i am a keyboard fanatic) I have not messed with it yet, but I think you can talk to a macbook too and it will launch applications or do things (my friends do that) The magsafe power adapter is like a magnet connection so if you kick the cord you won't break anything, it will just pop out. Overall, I like it. It's fairly light. I wanted something light with good battery life. I knew I was happy with the graphics card on the mini so I shouldn't be let down here either since this is an improvement on that. I have to question whether I will use the cd drive very much, but I guess it's cool if I need to rip a cd to iTunes. When I had this on today at work next to my dell and external monitor I could only notice how dingy/brown their screens look in comparison. The colors on this screen are really great. The keyboard has a nice tactile feel to it as well, I really never miss a beat with this thing. The firewire connection was useful to transfer my settings from the mac mini as well.Read full review
It looks like apple is trying to fry older systems through their latest OS X Sierra and updates. It fried my original system and so I bought this one from eBay with El Capitan, it runs cool as i refuse to update it. There is a significant increase in temperature of the logic board after installing OS X Sierra. Earlier I couldn't keep my LAPtop on my lap but now with an older OS, I can, without getting burned. Maybe apple need more buyers for their new systems. I have similar experience with my Gen 2 iPads, which after every update, the system went slow and sluggish. On the other hand, Microsoft is doing the same thing to raise their sales for their new surface series books. Just take a look at the reviews of computers manufactured by HP, Asus, Toshiba etc, most of them have issues with mother board and are used and resold as refurbished. Windows 10 is worse as you have no control over their updates. Every time you try to use the computer, it is updating on its on and is heating up (you know how cr**py win7 and 8.1 already). So an older Mac with an older OS is the best option for now until somebody comes up with an OS not laced with NSA Codes! Well, this was a decent system they sent me through eBay for the price. Highly recommend to buy from these guys. Read full review

If you dislike the new windows 8 or 10 software like i did, this macbook is an excellent replacement for those while still being budget friendly. It is not the newest or the best by any means, but this computer handles daily web browsing and work processing like a champ. The keys are backlit so you can type in dark spaces, and the screen is amazing! It handles everything that i have testing it to do very well, and can even preform some light gaming like minecraft or a music game i play called Osu!

its a cool notebook, has all the features and is easy to work with! when you use the computer it is like the computer is working for you. the camera is also a bonus among all the computers out there. the display is bright and the graphics are clear and precise.
I purchased this MacBook to do my music recording. I've installed Audacity & GarageBand they both work without a problem. I have recorded with my Audiobox USB interface with Audacity. Worked great. If you want to start a small home recording studio, I highly recommend this platform and the price can't be beat.

The second coming of the MacBook generation laptops with the Intel Core 2 Duo chips at their highest processor speed offered (2.4 GHZ) and 667 memory speed up to 4GB total and 800 MHZ front side bus with a cd and dvd multi format read - writer, was just a really neat build (as most if not all Mac products made) and if one really takes a good look at what is being marketed as the 13" MacBook Pro, it is really an upgraded version of the original MacBooks with obvious higher ram speeds, HDD capacity, graphics and Intel chip set. This item although discontinued, is still a GREAT notebook by any standard. With a few tweaks such as a total upgrade to OS 10.6, added 500 GB HDD and max 4GB 667 memory, all at just under $160.00 (maybe more if you don't look at the appropriate sellers), brings this baby back into the big leagues. You just can't go wrong with Mac as long as one hasn't purchased a used notebook that has been used as a seat cushion. Review your future purchases (and read all info from sellers) carefully before clicking any buttons with your mouse or track pad!Read full review
Pros: Intel Core 2 duo @ 2.4gz Although it didn't last up to hours, 7 hours is enough for me Nice and clean display(I really like watching movies with this) Nvidia Geforce Runs quiet Back-lit keyboard Cons: Only 250Gb for the base model No audio input(no garageband :/) The webcam Overall this a good computer. However there are a lot of laptops out there that have much better specs and costs lower. It's very portable and easy to carry around. I also like the mouse pad. It has a lot more gestures than a pc. The 720p resolution is perfect on this laptop. I recommend this computer for those who wants to try something different.
