    Nice unit

Previously had a Fitbit Flex. Liked the form factor but feature set was scant. The Vivosmart HR is a different animal. Syncs every time without a hitch. Tracks a ton of features; messages, emails, heart, sleep, steps, stairs, weather etc. You have to use two apps, the Garmin Connect app and the Under Armor My Fitness Pal app to input food and other data. I've seen improvement in just a few weeks from having the new regimen of tracking calories and food. If you commit to the program it can help you make better decisions, likely permanently and for the good. My only qualm is the form factor. It's a pretty big band, but I guess it needs to be to enable all the features to be read. I do like that it's not a bigger traditional square watch/wart on my wrist. Now what do I do with the other 11 watches in my drawer, Garmin?!

    PROS AND CONS

I had a Fitbit Charge HR that died two months after the one year warranty expired. I decided to try the Garmin Vivosmart HR+. It has nice features like waterproof, and a larger face. But, it is difficult to connect to its cable for charging and more difficult to disconnect. And, the alarm/notification vibration is so weak that I often do not feel it. It would be nice if the intensity of the vibration could be increased, but Garmin said that is not possible. I had difficulty paring it to my smartphone and I called Garmin and the help I got was great.

  • Good product at a great price

I wanted it for heart rate measurement and it does that plus more. It has a good enough battery to last 5 days and has some other features that are a plus (see specs). Only downsides are that the readout font is small for older folks (mainly the messages page although the clock and heart rate readouts in portrait mode are fine), and the software it version it comes with is buggy having disconnection and data syncing problems (have to sync with pc using Garmin express to update to version 4.3 to get rid of these issues. Wouldn't update with Garmin connect on cell phone)

  • Good activity tracker with so so HRM

I had been trying a Microsoft Band 2 and was loving it but the MS Band was showing a lot of wear after just a week. Also that sucker is heavy and sometimes hurt after wearing it for a couple of days straight. The HRM on the Band 2 was not terribly accurate either, showing my HR to be about 20 to 50 bpm less than a Scoshe Rhythm+ and a Polar chest strap I was using for comparison (The Rhythm and Polar were about the same within a couple of bpm). Deciding to dumb it down and get an activity tracker w/ HRM that I would use for average HR only, I got this one. It's much more comfortable than the MS Band 2, significantly lighter and just as functional. I do miss the full amoled color screen of the band 2 but have not had any pain or chafing wearing this band (now for almost 3 weeks straight) continously except for charging. Speaking of charging, the battery lasts for about 4 days with 1 to 2 workouts per day. This is more than double the MS Band 2. I do also miss the MS Health App. It seems to have more comprehensive stats and is easier and more intuitive to navigate that the Garmin Connect app on my android phone. All in all, I like the band, the comfort, the weight and as long as you take the heart rate reported with a grain of salt, fairly accurate.

  • Great little device

Bought this device to replace my Apple Watch, and allow me to wear my existing collection of mechanical watches. The form factor is very different from the Apple Watch, with the HR device protruding from the backside of the band, rather than a flush sensor. This leads to occasional discomfort when using a keyboard all day, but really a nit-picky preference. The band could be a little thinner--I was debating between this device and the Fitbit Alta HR, as it is on my dominant wrist, and does look a little large opposite the watch on my left wrist. Very nice to have the sleep tracking information databased in the Garmin Connect app on my phone, so I can try and approximate how the day may go. Overall, I ultimately decided on this device vs the Fitbit based on existing devices in the Garmin family that also link up to the Garmin Connect app (bike computer and HR chest strap). I think I'll be quite happy with this device, as the battery definitely lasts much longer than my Apple Watch, and it allows me to wear my much more elegant looking wristwatches without losing the daily activity metrics I still want to track. I purchased a refurbished model and haven't seen any issues thus far, but managed to save quite a bit of money doing so.

  • Awesome activity tracker

This band is exactly what I needed to be more than a watch, and not big on my wrist. It's not as in depth as the other Garmin lineup, but for the price, the attributes it monitors are excellent. The heart rate monitor has matched up every time I've been to a doctors office (my other brands did not get my hr exactly). My husband and my oldest daughter both have vivo products and we love that we can see each other's daily progress within the Garmin app.

  • Unreliable

I got this device because it's supposed to measure my heart rate throughout the day, through sleep, and through my workout & activities, and give me an accurate calorie count (factoring in my settings - height, weight, etc). First of all, ever time I scrolled over to pulse (to see if I was within my desired zone), it was waaaay below... it would start catching up, but then switch screen before showing the accurate pulse (I timed my pulse to see if it was measuring accurately). My first guess was sweaty wrist affected it? If so,what's the point? But then it happened all the time. I got in the habit of checking because I spent a lot of money so wanted to see if it was correct! I tried changing the settings/changing arms...in the end, my conclusion is it's a piece of expensive trash. How do I even know if it was measuring my sleep correctly if during the day it wouldn't? My old Polar watch with the old-school band around my chest was waaaaay more reliable and accurate. Replacing the battery is cheaper too. Unfortunately I was lured in by all the app frills..

  • A Great Activity Tracker and Runners Watch

I use this as a daily activity tracker, esp. for heart rate. I compared a chest strap to the ViviSmart and they were with a few percentage points. It's easy to use and set up. I like the app.

  • Mixed experience, but good for the price

The touch screen, while quick and responsive, works with some times unintuitive operating system. I was shocked how long it took to establish satellite signal for GPS It seems to overestimate calorie burn as well. I love it's free exercise monitoring, because I can use it for running or during exercise videos. I like being able to scroll through texts as well.

  • Solid product, tremendous value

Functions, if not behaves, well. Small unit which seems to rely too much on an or program for configuration. A gripe I have is the configurations don't always set, specifically Do Not Disturb hours and turning off the backlight. It took several attempts before the DnD was set properly. While I have the backlight off for now, it took WAY to many attempts. As for the unit on one's wrist, it is comfortable and holds its position higher up the forearm than where one wears a watch. The ability to display info landscape or portrait is great. All screens are easy to get to, though changing settings requires accuracy. Battery life is outstanding. It is listed at five days. I was hit six with backlight turned down, if not off, and minimizing bluetooth use to synchs. It has updated itself so it seems to be working at staying current. Haven't examined the website, as I use the app. Saving all that data until I can make comparisons over time. Like this unit a ton for the price. Trouble configuring unit via the app docks a star.
