Better than aftermarket gas cap

New Gas Cap Fixed Check Engine LIght on My 2005 Dodge Magnum
My check engine light started to come on a few months ago. It would do this every time the tank got to the half-full point then go away when I filled the tank, then the same thing happened, same cycle. I went to the Chrysler dealership and they said that the catalytic converter was the cause and it would cost me about $1,200 to fix the problem BUT why then would the light go off after I filled the tank I wondered? The last time this happened I tried an experiment...I opened the gas cap and sealed it again and drove about 40 miles and the check engine light went out so I figured I'd try a new gas cap which is why I brought this one. I put it on last week and so far, so good. Went past the half tank point and no check engine light so I hope this $17 fix is the cure. Much better than $1,200 yes? Nice snug fit....
Took all of about 1 minute to replace old cap with this one. Fits much more snuggly than my old one did. My only complaint is that for some reason, even after driving the vehicle several times after installing the new cap, my "Gas cap" light hasn't gone out. Easy to attach
The cap is easy to install. The one problem is the retainer plug that goes to the gas lid is too small for the hole in the lid. I had to use a soldering iron to melt the plug on the inside to keep the cap from falling off the lid.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
