Whether you daily drive a stock STI or rallycross a modified WRX, an efficient cooling system is key to extending the life of your flat-four. The plastic end tanks of the stock radiator are especially prone to cracking from years of constant variation in temperature. A radiator failure can result in overheating, head gasket failure, and other engine damage that can quickly put an end to a fun day at the track. Protect your investment with the Mishimoto performance radiator engineered specifically for the 2001-2007 Subaru WRX and STI. After identifying the radiator in these vehicles as a weak point, our engineers set out to provide an efficient, durable radiator that can take the abuse of competitive driving and provide the reliability you need for daily commuting.
There are better Aluminum Radiators, but not at this value
So the stock plastic end tanks cracked on my wife's car, due to thermostat going bad. Decided to upgrade to all Al like I did on mine a few years ago. This time I couldn't afford the Koyo, and due to the increasing quality of Mishimoto. I decided I'd give it a shot, and I'm not mad. Overall a beautiful looking piece, I personally like the design of the Koyo better and fitment is much better on the Koyo. With the Mishimoto the oem upper mounts do their job however they don't fit great, the overflow hose was completely off and would not fit with the oem hose. The last necessary modification was trimming of the upper radiator hose about an inch to 1.5in was all it took (OEM hose). This IS necessary as the hose was hitting the fan blades when they cut on. None of these were major issues, however they are enough of a setback in the install that some may have to make a trip to the store for snips or extra length of overflow hose. For an item advertised as direct fit or no modifications for install I do take issue and can't give a good or excellent rating. I've had small issues like this with other Mishimoto products I bought in a pinch to save a few dollars over other brands.
All in all I am content with the radiator and believe it will outlast the car barring a front end collision. Worth the savings experienced which is great when you don't have a ton of money for upgraded repairs and are handy and creative at problem solving.
