I bought this unit to store audio books on, to play in my car. it is always connected to the cars USB port, so a battery is not required. Works great and holds about seven books.

The product was a little more beat up than I expected. The dent on the bottom makes it hard to insert the charging cord. Wouldn't sync with my iTunes library, had to put everything in a playlist and then move the playlist to the ipod.

I bought this product a few months ago and I was impressed with all the features it has. The color just knocked me out. I am going to learn to use all the other features later. It is very easy to work and handle. The feature I like is that you can listen to your music by artist, album in alphbetical order or random. The only gripe I had, is that it arrived without any instructions of how to work it on the computer. We had one heck of time figuring it out, but we finally figure. It would have been a lot easier if there was a manual or instructions. I like the 8GB, you can really put a lot of your CD's on the product. The other feature I like is the games on it. I did'nt know about that when I bought. Pretty cool. My brother bought me a small nano and unfortunately I lost it. So I went on-line and looked for a nice one without paying and arm and leg so to speak. So I found this one, liked it and ordered it. I am very satisified with this product.Read full review
This was my first iPod, and it failed to impress. My biggest gripe was that it's not at all obvious how you shuffle WITHIN a playlist, as I don't like to listen to different types of music all together. I had to google around for a while to find an answer. It would have been much more helpful for that option to be in the "now playing" context menu than everything else in that menu. The player feels too light and thin, as if I'm going to break it, something I never worried about with previous MP3 players - that may sound dumb, but I have to gingerly pick it up and put it down. It's hard to land on the specific item you want to click with the scrollwheel - a feature that's useful only if you have huge music libraries of the sort you only get from P2P swapping (something Apple clearly recognized from the start). And the touch controls are rather sensitive. Often I keep the Nano on hold so it doesn't accidentally skip to the next song or mess with the volume when it's in my pocket. And as much as people love iTunes, it's just not that great to me. You can't delete songs from your iPod - you have to de-select them in iTunes, which is f'ing ridiculous. I've seen instructions for getting around this with Explorer, but Apple really shouldn't make you jump through hoops just to delete songs. This player is useful basically for me to carry a larger library with me, and that's it. The UI is a pain and the controls aren't intuitive. My Slacker G2 player has been much more enjoyable.Read full review
I bought this product because I lost my first generation Nano 2 GB. I like this design better than the new Nano (6th generation) because you don't have to look at the screen to change the songs and it doesn't have to be as exposed. Since I do a lot of mountain biking and a decent amount of falling I can appreciate that. The basic layout is very similar to the original Nano however the screen is higher resolution and brighter. Also, the graphics are smoother and more colorful. I really like how they incorporated Genius into the options for this model. I have not had enough time to evaluate the battery life but it seems on par with the first generation Nano but probably not any better. I could get between 5-8 workouts in without charging. It plays video, however the screen is very small and not the right shape so I wouldn't replace your smartphone or ipod touch if you are planning to watch a lot videos. Overall I feel that it is a very solid player with any feature you could want. Perfect for those with an active lifestyle.Read full review
The 4th generation Nano, Available in capacities of 8GB, and 16GB (priced at $149 & $199 respectively) these have a scratch-resistant aluminum body and are now slimmer than ever. The unit has new rounded, contour edges that make it feel thinner than it is and feel right in your hand. The new line-up comes in a whole array of colors to match the rainbow, and to match your personality as well. The 4th Generation Nano has completely redesigned the Nano over the 3rd generation “Fat”, and it feels like it is different on the sides when you hold it comparatively to the older generations. Stepping back to the 1st and 2nd generation designs, it takes the good of the style of the 2nd gen, along with the advancements in the “Fat” 3rd generation versions, and creates a winning design. This design is a lot thinner than it was, yet retains the 2-inch screen, though it is millimeters thinner. The new screen saves the room for viewing your tracks and playing games, but the genius comes in the flipping of the screen. The screen with this change, still has a 2-inch viewing area, which makes it very easy to use, browse and watch. When view movies, shows, podcasts with the new Nano, the Nano should be flipped to a “widescreen” view, in which the new accelerometer changes the landscape and viewing of this device. This new Nano still has a long battery life. Apple claims that it will last 36 hours, but I was able to get just over 32 hours of playtime – which is nice… real nice. The video experience was just over 6 hours – as advertised. Another thing about the accelerometer. The accelerometer also enables 'shake to shuffle', where a flick of the wrist will choose a random song. This feels like it has been done right. It also allows easy use of the coverflow system, which runs much smoother this time around. The new music search functions (Genius), the brighter screen,, sound quality, smoother ease and use of coverflow, and continued games support give the new iPod added flare. The addition of voice notes won't make a difference to most people, as you'll need to buy some extra headphones with a microphone built in – but it is nice to know that it is there if you do. The addition of Genius, an automatic playlist generator, is going to be a massive hit with iPod fans. Genius will be massive, because it will - if it works as advertised - unlock the potential of your iPod library and help keep parties jumping or evenings chilled. It will also allow Apple to recommend tracks to you by your listening tastes as well. As a fan small MP3 players, and of the past Nano line-ups, I love this design. I really do. I think the all aluminum casing is the way to go, and I am happy again that it is all around the unit. Should you replace your old 8GB Nano (3rd Generation) with the new one? If you really want accelerometer video abilities and Genius, I would say yes. Regardless if you upgrade, or decided to wait it out, I highly recommended this device to Apple lovers and new MP3 enthusiasts alike. Pros: -Brighter, crisper viewing screen -Aluminum scratch-resistant casing all around the body -Amazing battery-life: 30+ hours plus (6+ with video)! -Search features, cover flow, album art, Genius -Accelerometer for video viewing and song shuffling -Genius song selection -Microphone capabilities -LOTS of new colors to choose from -Games via iTunes Cons -Still no built in FM tuner -Limited space when it comes to video & gamesRead full review

Pros: Small enough to carry in pocket. I like the lock feature. Good apple support. Great sound. Cons: Wow 72 page manual! hard to control Rotating wheel too touchy sometimes, other time wont move. Too many features.. Ear buds are too large uncomfortable unless you have very large ears. First thing you have to do is buy different ear phones, not good for item that sells new for $150.00. over priced CHINESE JUNK. You would think for the price Apple could make their own pods. Another thing it needs in the box is a cover. iPod scratches too easily. Also needs a charging wall plug. Theirs another $28.00 at Whal-Mart Overall too little for the money. ipod, case, better ear phones and wall plug you have over $210.00 invested. I guess your paying for the name, but it is still made in China . CHEAP CHINESE JUNK.Read full review
i recently brought the ipod nano a few weeks ago and i was impressed with the features on it all though apple have recently decided to bring another ipod nano 5ht gen out with a camera and built in speaker and microphone this ipod i brought was brand new and i a well packaged box i will recommend the 4th gen ipod to anyone unless the think a camera and video recorder will come in handy which i highly doubt it as most new mobile phones have better cameras on them no anyway. A plus product and great accessories too!
I'm a senior that was VERY aprehensive about getting an iPod. NO lONGER ... I find this device fantastic and easy to use! I can't believe the great sound quality that comes from such a small package. It plays my music exactly as I had it "Play Listed" on Windows Media. You must transfer your "Windows Media" music to the Apple iTunes setup, but that is not a big problem, just a little time consuming. LIKE: Incredible sound quality, easy to find any particular song or album you have stored. When you plug in your iPod to your USB port for charging, the automatic synchronization feature to iTunes is wonderful. The earphones are fairly comfortable in your ears. DISLIKE: You cannot drag and drop a photo. You must load a special program, then synchronize all of your photos at one time to iPod. This is a "pain". The earphones tend to get badly tangled if not careful. I store them hanging on the back of a door knob when not using. The device really does need some type of protective covering. I recommend the crystal clear cover that is available on E-Bay for a VERY reasonable cost (hint: stores are expensive).Read full review
