This is a the novel "Big Fish" that was later made into a motion picture directed by Tim Burton. I found the book to be an easy read (read it in two sittings) with a number of entertaining jokes and stories. I have seen the movie and if you are a fan, I recommend you read the book as well. The original work goes much deeper into the adventures of the main character, Edward Bloom. It also has a number of - I think - important story points that were simply edited out of the screenplay. Although, the story is framed by the impending death of the elder Bloom, "Big Fish" is ultimately a string of light-hearted tall tales told to a son by his somewhat distant father. If this sounds interesting, then this might be the novel for you.
No bady likes to be a fish out of water. The book is quite a bit different than the movie but still wonderful in it's own ways. If you haven't seen the movie I suggest reading the book first. Very delightful and full of imagination!!!
A mystical, magical, yet believable novel, skillfully written by Daniel Wallace. A great exploration of a man's life and the possibility of magic.
Nice story. Am taking a classs and needed to compare it to the movie. Not an exact match, but a sentimental story with many father/son insights.
