This recording capability is similar to the old VHS tapes used back in the 1980s for consumers' pleasure. Vary the DVD recording quality as you once did with VHS tapes. Good DVD Recorder. One of the very few of its type available. I believe the whole line of this brand is discontinued. I use it to edit and collect video from TV and cameras to put on a blank DVD that once finalized can be played on any DVD Player. I only use a computer to edit raw footage. This system allows you to add and subtract video clips on one DVD. It won't automatically finalize the disc once you take it out of the machine. You can save it and add to it later.

    Disappointed

As a dvd player it worked okay, but I wanted to record movies from my direct tv dvr onto a dvd disk, so I ran the dvr through the dvd recorder, but after hours and hours all I could get was sound, but no picture... I hired a guy from a computer store to come to my house and even he could not get it to work... I gave it to a friend, she just wanted a dvd player.

  • I will stick to Panasonic for these type units.

This unit is a very simple to use player/recorder. Using DVD-RAM puts little strain on the recording as it writes and not burn to this format. Though there are those who have stated it was complicated must not know it is one of the easier Panasonic's to use. As with ANY electronic equipment it does need maintenance to keep it clean which is explained in the manual, and proper handeling of the Disk used. Panasonic made the best ones, IMO, as I have had others with major problems for only a short periods of time.

  • YES!

We currently had a DMR-ES25 and desperately needed another to perform multiple recording of live events. Although this unit did not come with a remote control, our existing unit's remote worked well with this one. We had received it on a Friday and used it two days later successfully. We love this Panasonic model and recommend it for live recording.

  • Panasonic DMR-ES25 DVD Recorder is a great machine!

I bought this to replace my older unit (same model) that had performed wonderfully with constant use (at least 20 hours a week) for over 5 years. This one works equally well. I've used four other models - all by Panasonic and all that had worked very well - but this is by far my preference.

  • Good for the Money

Works well so far, but the remote they delivered has very hard keys to depress and all the functions don't work, even though it's supposidly compatible.

  • Best Panasonic DVD recorder. Excellent for use with DVD-RAM discs.

The most convenient, most durable and reliable Panasonic DVD recorder, in my opinion. I have used this model for over 10 years before my old unit finally gave out after nearly daily use.

  • good replacement recorder

I have a few of the recorders and could not be happier with them. they are easy to use and versatile in that they can record on one and finalize on another

  • Very flexible

It creates nice results on 4:3 aspect ratio. I haven't tested on wide screen. Would prefer a better main menu and some options for that.
