This was a great upgrade for us from our Pioneer 5.2 system which did a good job also. But the Onkyo has provided us with 7.2 channels of great THX sound for all the streamed programing and movies we watch on our 120" screen in our home theatre room. The unit arrived in great condition and has performed well for us so far. It has some of the features found on the current models and we think its a great product. It has met all our expectations so far and we expect it will serve us for a long time to come.

An excellent unit. Already set up for future upgrades. You do need to know two things that I did not know when looking into the unit. It will ONLY give an on-screen display of menu items if you use an HDMI cable from the unit to your TV set. Also, if you want ot attach a turntable, you will have to purchase a seperate outboard preamp as it has no turntable input. Other than that it is a great unit with plenty of power and very easy to use.
I am thoroughly impressed with the way it handles audio quality. I upgraded from a 6.1 receiver and it was well worth it. Added a pair of front highs to make 7.1. While watching movies that extensively use surround sound (Live Free or Die Hard), my jaw drops. I was also pleasantly surprised watching Sherlock Holmes). This box is well worth the money - you won't regret buying it.
I bought one of these with a smashed front and I bought this unit for the salvage parts. For $60 total I have an outstanding AV receiver that switches HDMI ports and has 7.1 surround.
