I bought this product so I didn't have to lug heavy books with me when I travel. I also didn't want to buy a new system (i.e. nook) just to read. I like that the cartridge works in any DS system (ds, ds lite, dsi, 3ds). I prefer it on XL screens to regular screens, but it is legible on both. I like that it is easy to use. Technology and I don't always get along very well. This one doesn't give me a headache. I like the owl that makes suggestions based on a few answers if you don't know what you feel like reading. You can also pick a book from the shelf if you know what you want. I like the bookmark feature. I like the page numbering (i.e. 14/3674). I wish the spacing on the screen was a bit better. The pages are formatted to have the first letter on the left edge and the last letter on the right, which creates "rivers" in the text. A printed listing of the books on the "game" would've been nice so I didn't have to scroll through the entire shelf to see what was available. For those who are tech savvy, this won't make a difference. I found it annoying. I have only borrowed a nook and an ipad for reading before. There are less words per page on this "game", but you see two pages at the same time (one on each screen, the ds is held sideways) instead of one at a time. I found the clarity of the type to have negligible differences among the devices I've used. I would recommend this product to someone who already has a ds device. First off this is in no way a game so do not buy it thinking it is. Second I love it. I had a hard time finding a store that had it in stock but onces I got ahold of it I found it wonderfull to use. The books are all classics that you can normaly find really cheap or download for free to use with a kindle but if you don't have one its a great option. The text size is pretty good with a large and small setting. It has background sound that you can turn on and off and change as you like some of them including night, beach, and cafe. It's easy to scroll though the books and even do surches if your not sure what you would like to read. Theres a little owl that will ask you questions that once you answer he can sedjest a book for you to try. It puts an automatic bookmark on the page your at when you turn off the ds and you have 3 you can place in each book yourself to mark improtent spots. The downloadable books are mostly more children stories and really simple to download. I hope to see another edition of this soon maybe a 100 MORE classic books which wouldn't be tough to do becuase all of the books are public domain. So to summerize if you've ever wanted to read the classics or know a big reader with a ds this 20 "game" is a great idea. One more thing to add. The stories do not have any pictures.Read full review
I used to envy those folks with their "Kindle" readers. Not any more. This "game" has 100 of the all-time classics....only a few of which I had read as a student in high school. Who remembers that?? In those days, I only read what I HAD to. So now, I can catch up. Classic Books is laid out very user-friendly, and there is no problem with size of type. I read in restaurants, and people always want to know what "I have". Now, I wish Nintendo would come out with some "classics" that are more recent. i.e. authors from the 1900's. I guess there's no hurry, though, I have "2 down and 98 to go". I highly recommend this "game". One caveat: there are two versions of this game. Both work in the DS lite, but not in the DSi or DSi XL. Get the one with the lady on the cover if you have the DSi or XL.Read full review
Have been thinking about purchasing a "Kindle" I love to read, then I was told about this ebook that I could use with my Nintendo and I thought I'd try it first. (Much less expensive). Wasnt sure if I'd like it but I do. Its easy to read and easy to turn pages. I'm a senior citizen and was concerned with my being able to read the print but its been no problem at all. It'll be a while before I completely give up reading "real books" but I like the ebooks too.
Cartridge arrived today, quickly I plugged into my New 3DS XL and tried it. Works like new. Arrived Complete In Box and I couldn't be happier. Thanks
