For the money, this is a great little machine. Give it a chance.

This little machine CAN handle thicker fabrics if one just takes a little more time and doesn't sew 'pedal-to-the-floor'. I had no problem sewing soft, pliable buckskin. No, it has no sewing light and yes, it is ultra-lightweight, but it is very easy to use, thread, and wind the bobbin. I bought it strictly to take on trips but find it so easy to use for quick repairs, etc, that I reach for it first now. I would buy another.

    Fast and loose...

Actually a decent quality little hummer. Was cheaper to buy than drive (gas/time) to storage to get my regular machine for this one straight stitch job. Notes: 1 stitch type - straight. 1 stitch length - medium (too big/long if you ask me.) Threading is easy, but is very difficult to control tension so you don't end up with a mess. A lot of trial and error for each fabric density is required. No zigzag (wasn't expected, but noting it). Reverse is push button easy. Foot pedal is physically light... Does it work and worth it for last minute straight stitch in an emergency? Yes. But, it requires that you play with it and get to know the machine. Good for children learning to sew? No. Don't be cheap when learning or teaching to sew! Find a good used home machine (DAV/Good Will/Salvation Army) and have it tuned. This is NOT a learning machine.

  • Great little gadget

Tried this one when the little handheld sewing machine broke, and managed to hem some camo shorts with my "Lil' Sew and Sew." There's a steep but short learning curve for we who know nothing of sewing machines. When you get the knack of threading the needle, you order extra wire needle threaders to replace the ones that break; you turn the handwheel backward once so the needle can pick up the bottom thread; and you draw the top thread between the presser foot arms and off to the right with the bottom thread. Raise the needle and slip the material under the presser foot, then REMEMBER to let the presser foot down. Takes practice to sew a straight line, but when you get it right the resulting stitches hold well. I'm so hot to trot now that I'm gonna try to replace a zipper! There are scads of online tutorials showing how to use the machine and how to do various kinds of sewing with it – without them I would have been been lost; but with them, it's a very practical little device, and darn convenient. Just REMEMBER to let the presser foot down. There's a slew of these machines offered online. Some have the Lil' Sew and Sew logo, and some don't. Some have a thread gutter, and some don't. Some have different colors, or are shaped differently. They all claim to be the same model LSS202, so either they are earlier and later versions by the same manufacturer, or several Chinese manufacturers of all piled into the same pedicab and are selling knockoffs. The one I have even looks different than its picture on the box, but if it keeps on sew and sewing as it has to now, I shall have no complaint. Just REMEMBER to let the presser foot down.

  • Sewing machine

Very simple portable small sewing machine. Good for small jobs and handy to work with. Easy to operate. It came already set up. That's a plus for beginners like me. It was threaded , so I was able to try it out, right from the box, after reading the instructions. Perfect, great buy

  • Excellent first sewing machine!

This is my first sewing machine and it is perfect! There is only one kind of stitch, two speeds, a fairly simple design, a foot pedal and button. I bought this machine for some small crafts (it can do paper stitching, too!) and simple repairs. I got it and took it out of the box and it was already set up. There's also some videos on YouTube that show you how to thread it if you're a complete novice to sewing machines like me. It's so cute! It can also take batteries in addition to just plugging in, so you could use it pretty much anywhere. I have already fixed the seam on a pair of pajama pants (which I was going to throw away but can now wear again!). I would definitely recommend this for anyone who isn't a super sewer but needs some help repairing some simple rips and tears OR someone who is just starting out sewing. Excellent machine, shipped fast (wicked fast!), and works great!

  • nice little machine

It was shipped and arrived promptly. The machine works like a charm and is user friendly. It does not have a back-stitch mode, so a bit of ingenuity will take you a long way. If you're looking for a good value and you rarely sew, this will work perfectly.

  • Excellent machine for simple stitching

Great machine for the price and size. When I first saw this machine, I did nor know how well it would work for me. I relied on other ebay'ers reviews and they were mostly positive. This is perfect for simple stitching. sure beats having to hand stitch, especially for zippers and seams. I would recommend this to anyone that needs to do simple repairs or simple modifications. The only major complaint I would have is the unit is a tad too light and can shift while sewing if you are not holding the unit down. The foot pedal takes a little getting used to but after a few tries, got it down. The unit comes pre-threaded and ready to use. The instructions are not the best, and took me a few re-reads to fully understand. The instructions for loading the bobbin is a little confusing. My suggestion is to feed the thread into the chamber under the foot while the bobbin is still out of the machine. Once the thread catches in the mechanism, then load the bobbin in the bobbin chamber.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVVVEEE

I have NEVER used a sewing machine...this one is So easy to use even my almost 3 year old can sit on my lap and use ........ Started to use to make a crib sheet.....it isnt strong enough to sew elastic...had multiple people try that have used bigger more advanced machines and it just isnt enough....would recommend for a child learning to sew or for light sewing but NOTHING else.

  • Very Light

I wish there was reverse and gradual speed change. The foot pedal will be essential for anyone who doesn't want clear on or off. Overall good value for a fast quick straight seam long trip travel size/weight machine. My chihuahua is bigger than this machine. Haha
