Partikel III represents the third and final installment of the Partikel trilogy, a series of collaborations between Japanese noise god Merzbow and Swedish electronic avant-garde artist Henrik Nordvargr Björkk. The two intensely prolific noise masters again provided one another with source material, which each then processed, mangled, and reworked into new states of being. The four resultant pieces range in sound from caustic harsh noise to dark, brooding ambience, with a focus on subtle, slowly evolving electronics throughout. ~ Fred Thomas
