This recording features Southern guitarist Duane Allman as a session man with the famed Mussel Shoals studio crew (Hood, Carr, etc...) before he formed the ledgendary Allman Brothers Band which is reason enought to listen to this record. Herbie Mann kept recreating his music with each record throughout the 1970's, recording with a different style or musicians in a succession of recordings, often utilizing famous venues or trying different styles (Southern rockers, British Blues, Brazillian jazz, etc...). However, it is Duane Allman's fluid and improvisational guitar playing that hightlights this record. His guitar playing against an excellent rythum section find full bloom in the coming recordings in the Allman Brothers Band and with Eric Clapton as a guest second lead guitarist on Clapton's Derek and the Dominos Layla and Other Love Songs release, another classic.Read full review
