  • Terrible Vinyl Pressing

I first ran across this group on YouTube with the song: Is It Any Wonder. The very first note of this song captivated me. I had to listen to the whole album. I said I have to get this album on vinyl. You see I only buy vinyl, and I don't stream. So its vinyl or else not. When the record arrived I was so excited. But not for long. I was hoping to hear a record with good pressing like those from Analog Production for example. Buoy was I disappointed. The record sound terrible! Terrible! Terrible! I could not believe it. I can't describe it as I should. But I will try: The record sound compressed and bassy, the singers voice sounds like they were in a room with zinc walls. Every instrument sound flat and crushed out. I could hardly make out what they were singing about. My favorite song: "Is it any Wonder" was dreadful. His voice sound lifeless. The album sounded so bad that I had to go back to YouTube to listen and compare the songs. Guess what: The YouTube versions sounded totally like it heard it the first time. It sounded good. Not excellent. Just good and 100% better than this vinyl. I dont know what they did in the pressing plant or in the vinyl production process but whatever they did it's a disgrace to these guys career. Its sabotage. They should sue their producer for deformation of character. Please check out this group on YouTube before you buy. The group is awesome, vocals, strings, drums are crying out. I would pay to see them live. So please understand that I am not criticizing the band. I am criticizing the vinyl record. They should never put their first or any other album for that matter on vinyl if they can't do a good job. This vinyl record is the worse lp in my collection. I will donate it to Goodwill. I am so so disappointed. The arrangement was top draw, but the sound on vinyl is lousy. I like to listen to clips of songs online before I purchase, but this one really fooled me. I do hope these guys win a Grammy next year, but this vinyl pressing will block that achievement. I am curious what the CD sound like, so I might get one to hear for myself. Good luck to Duran Jones & The Indications. I hope they fire that producer. The one Star is because of the vinyl pressing. Terrible Pressing!

If you’re a fan of the new school soul styles coming out now this is the perfect album to get. Durand Jones captures the style and sentiments of the music popular in the fifties and sixties and represents it well. I highly recommend this album!
