The very first Rush I bought was the vinyl lp of Moving Pictures the year of its release in 1981. This is one of the band's most successful releases, and has the FM radio standard "Tom Sawyer" leading off the 7 tracks contained on this cd. The most commercially successful Rush cd up to that point, the front half (first 4 tracks) of this stunning release still gets solid airplay on classic rock stations all around the world! The back half of the cd is where I believe the real gems are. An 11 minute version of the song "The Camera Eye" is followed by one of my favorite Rush songs of all time "Witch Hunt", telling the tale of man's ability to grasp the dark side, Geddy implores us to listen and ponder as he sings the lyrics "For those who who what's best for us, must rise and save us from ourselves!". The final track is the multi-time changing, reggae guitar influenced, fast paced "Vital Signs". All-in-all, this is a must for a Rush fan, and if your just finding out about the Canadian trio who has passed their 35th anniversary together then this release is a great place to begin your journey collecting Rush.Read full review
Beat, talent, plays nice with loud volume, plays nice with a sub-woofer. good lyrics. If you you like RUSH you should buy this. If it is not your speed sell it back to E-bay nothing lost. This group is under-rated often miss understood, often they preceede themeselves, sometimes thier music is more evolved than my tastes and then I have to catch up. I feel like there isn't a bad song on this playlist, they play nice back to back. This group only has three musicians most groups need four to get by. Nice album cover too. I have this on vinyl. I have owned this on tape. This is my second CD. Without children to tear this one up, with the advent of MP3 players and multimedia computers this should last the rest of my life.
This is defenitly a classic.THE breakthrough album for RUSH with the radio hits "TOM SAWYER" and "RED BARCHETTA",but i think the true RUSH genius is in the continuing sci-fi fusion of "WITCH HUNT",CAMERA EYE AND "VITAL SIGNS"and of course maybe the best instrumental of all time in "YYZ".And i can't forget "LIMELIGHT" a kind of auto biography.i bought the record of this way back in 1980/81 and listened only to 2112 more in my youth.I'm a huge RUSH fan and i'd say this cd/album belongs in any rock collection.30+ years together, that speaks volumes.
First and foremost to me is the clean remastering job. I was familiar with some, but not all of this album before. I found this version highly regarded by some trustworthy sources. When you also have one of the best drummers and one of the best bass players in the package, how can you go far wrong? This album made me a RUSH fan ! I highly recommend it for your collection

What can I say? This CD rocks!!! I've always been a big Rush fan - not only are they the most intelligent band around, they can play their instruments masterfully. I remember when Moving Pictures first came out, and it blew my mind. I was in high school at the time, and went to the concert as well. I even still have the tour book and ticket stub! THIS CD IS A MUST FOR ANY AND ALL RUSH FANS!!!
My first Rush album. I started with the best one. Next: "2112".
