This is a wonderful book with good photographs showing details needed for anyone who is interested in accuracy of costumes for the Nineteenth Century. The photographs are divided by decades and there is good information about the styles of the decade with some excellent historical background. I recommend this book for anyone needing a resource for costuming Nineteeth Century clothing for men, women and children, for Reenactors of the Civil War era or just for the pleasure of looking at past photographs from the Nineteenth Century. Delighted to have it in my library.
Excellent resouce for period dressing. We have an 1870 Victorian Gothic Revival home and during village reinactments, we like to dress in period clothes. We don't dress exactly like the year, but it helps to see what was in fashion.
