Amy Carmichael, was born in 1867 in the village of Millisle, Ireland, and gave herself unconditionally to Christ. She went first to Japan but was told she could not withstand the climate. Following a short term in Ceylon, presently Sri Lanka, she landed in India in 1895 and remained there without a single furlough until she died on January 18, 1951. Her selfless life and service is an inspiration to anyone interested in Christian missions.

SynopsisA vivid portrayal of her life and ministry in South India. The impression left by this book is that she was the servant of a great God. Selections of her poetry accompany her story.
Amy Carmichael has been my mentor since I discovered her as a teenager. I was a Wycliffe Bible Translator for 46 years and I read this book many times. AC went to India in 1897 or so and never took a furlough. Her themes were 'dying to self' and taking up our cross to follow Christ. The author, Frank Houghton, knew Amy and visited her at Dohnavur.
Elisabeth Elliott wrote a biography about her but this is far better and more devotional. Imagine EE criticizing Amy Carmichael after the latter had gone to heaven!
The product was in excellent condition and I sent it to a niece.
Thank you!
From Scotland to India to glory, Amy Carmichael gave her life to the children of India, because she had given her heart to .... You'll have to read the book for the beauty of a life surrendered the greatest person in the universe. Lovely.
