Product does allow for continued use of an older Drill. However, for the price, a new drill can be purchased. To be honest in my evaluation, even though I can recommend the Product, I personally would not purchase it again since the Batteries are not the "Maxx" type.

The adapter fits well. all items in the kit are good quality, But the 2 AH battery's don't hold much juice, they are probably fine for a homeowner, but If you're using them all day you will be disappointed (lots of trips to the charger) The 2 AH batteries don't hold as much charge as the 5 year old 18 volt batteries I was trying to replace, the adapter might work better with bigger batteries.

I bought this product because I have older 18 volt tools and plan on switching to the 20 volt as they stop working (some already have). I don't want to keep buying 18 volt batteries and not be able to use them later so this was a good option. I'd have given it 5 stars but the adapter is very hard to get out of the 18 volt tools. The 20 volt batteries come out of the adapter easily but I need to switch the whole unit over to the 18 volt tools I have and it's not very convenient. Overall a decent product at a good price.

I read a lot of reviews. They said the generic adapters let your batteries can go to far down and they won’t be able to recharge. They said the authentic adapter was the way to go so batteries wouldn’t go too low to recharge. That’s true. They said it was very hard to get the adapter off the tools. Only if you leave the 20vt battery on it. When I take the battery off they pop loose easy. Glad I bought genuine dewalt to protect my investment. I was given a bunch of battery less tools so this is great for me.

great way to extend the life of my 18v tools where the battery was aging and had no charge holding ability anymore. the new batteries being li-po, should outlast any nickel cadmium or nickel metal-hydride batteries and are considerably lighter. only thing is the adapter fit. its tight seal and hard to take off, but not impossible. to ease matters, I ordered additional adapters so I wont have to move that part from tool to tool, just the battery itself.

The original 18 volt batteries were going bad. One by one they would not take a charge. Since my tools are still in good shape, I was looking for an option. This was the most reasonable option. I am back to using my tools, with more power.

I have a full set of DeWalt 18V tools, which I love. As the DeWalt 18V batteries have become unavailable, or super pricey, I've tried off-brand batteries. None of which deliver the power or run-time. This adapter to the new 20V batteries, which are available, has been a lifesaver, or at least a stress saver.

I bought this one and a china copy, the china version actually works better and is easier to remove from the tool than official dewalt brand, 20v lithium batteries work great in old18v tools, I will leave this one on my saw since it is so hard to unclip from tool,, and buy the china version for 1/3 the price, maybe it will wear in with time, but I recommend the much cheaper china version

Considering one old school 18v NiCad battery cost $99, this was a great deal! Plus my old tools now have new life in them. I was considering throwing them away until I stumbled onto this adapter kit that uses the new style 20v Max Lithium Ion batteries.

It works fine with my old tool. But how long will the quality be maintained in the long run? I hope the brand Dewalt is reliable and comes with a 3 year warranty., I used to buy unbranded. It can only be used for a week, it doesn't have enough power to drive the tool.
