This Barbie doll, labeled M4969 and aptly named, Preferably Pink Barbie, is a true collector's item for lovers of dolls, toys, or fashion nostalgia. Her elegant and finely crafted features include exquisitely detailed blue eyes that glance to the side, a beauty mark, and light rosy lips. Created by Mattel, she is sure to add a bit of vintage style and glamour to any collection.Created in 2008, this lovely doll is from the Barbie Fashion Model Collection, which is a line of dolls started in 2000 and designed primarily for adult collectors. She is also part of the Gold Label series, which means that fewer than 10,000 sequentially numbered Preferably Pink Barbie Dolls exist in the world. All of the dolls in the Barbie Fashion Model Collection are also part of the larger Silkstone line and are made of a hard material designed to resemble porcelain rather than plastic. So her features are quite detailed and lifelike. The creators used the original 1959 Barbie face as a model for all of the dolls in the Fashion Model Collection, and all resemble her in the face. Their dress, hair color, and skin shade vary though to represent diverse fashion eras and trends. This doll is designed by Robert Best who has created hundreds of Barbies for various collections such as the Hollywood and Vintage lines. This Barbie also belongs to another delightful, thematic group created by Mattel called "Parisienne Sketchbook." Other Barbie dolls in this group include "Toujours Couture" and "Je Ne Sais Quoi."The pink jacket on this doll is tailored precisely to give you a peek of her cream-colored blouse, which is accented with golden buttons and a bow blouse. The matching skirt hits just below her knees, and her black and white sling-back heels complement the feminine colors and textures of her outfit. To complete the look, she carries a small faux leather handbag, and her jewelry is made with tiny pearls and shiny little jewels. She is wearing a beautiful faux gold necklace and earrings. Her designer truly had the stylish finesse of Chanel in mind when dressing this beautiful doll. The blonde locks on this Barbie are cut into a sleek long bob, popular in the early 1960s, and accented with a tiny black ribbon tied in a bow.
