Good small device to alert when the power is back on.
This is a very convenient device if you have a portable generator and want to know when provider power comes back and you need to turn off your generator. Very easy to install. One thing to know is you can't install it if your two phase power wires (120V each) are very close to each other. The electric field will cancel the signal to the sensor and the sensor will fail to produce a sound. Instead it will beep once you toggle its switch and stay silent. Each 120V phase wire has to be a few inches apart. Also, the instructions about the sensor wire seem to be incorrect. While the say that the black part of the wire sensor is the actual sensor, they tell you to wrap the white part of the wire around your 120V electric wire only. What I had to do is to use zip tie to hold the black part of the wire sensor to a 120V electric wire (so its touching it) and then wrap the white tip of the sensor per instructions. Good value...room for improvement
If your not comfortable doing the wiring in your electrical service panek, hire an electrician. My panel is newer, so the main circuit breaker connections are covered. The only other wire to connect is the ground wire. It has to be connected to the ground buss. It runs on a nine volt battery, but runs only during tests and if you have outage. I filled buzzer with construction adhesive to quiet it down because its way too loud. Would be nice to just have a light come on instead.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Must have for a back up generator!
Excellent alarm to let you know when the power is restored. It is super loud and will alert me even if we are sleeping. When you wrap the antenna wire around the main, it must be a very tight wrap and secured with zip ties or it won’t work properly. They recommend an electrician install it but I did on my own with lineman gloves on. This was the final peace to complete our whole house emergency project.

So simple but so good!
Easy to install. There’s nothing else on the market that I’ve found that does such a simple but important job. I’ve gone hours in the past running on my generator not knowing that the power had been restored. Ended up being a very good purchase
This works great once I was able to locate it in a position where it wasn't to close to any of the wires being powered by the generator. If it wasn't for the great Techs at reliance I would of given up and returned it. They were able to explain ways to make this work that are not in the instructions.
