It has a nice effect. Sounds decent. Does the trick for me. It replicates an acoustic guitar but doesn't sound as a good as a real acoustic amped. Which I did not figure it would. Some of my pedals hiss and this one does also.

It's not a bad option in a pinch to substitute for an acoustic part when needed and you can't use the real thing. A song here and there only!! The trio I jam with on an occasional Saturday gave me a thumbs down because it doesn't cut thru the mix!! It does sound thin compared to a real acoustic guitar. As a result I doubt I'll keep it!! The acoustic effect in my Zoom MS50 stomp is almost as good....

The Boss AC-2 Acoustic Simulator is a nice little acoustic effect, and it is important to keep in mind it is a simulator and not the real deal. This is a good tool if you only need to use an acoustic on one or two songs, but if you have several songs that depend on an acoustic, then you should get the ol’ acoustic out because I do not believe a pedal can achieve the rich tones of a really good acoustic. The Boss AC-2 allows the user to choose between a standard acoustic, a jumbo acoustic, an enhanced acoustic sound or you can select Piezo pickup sound. Using the Top and Body knobs, the user will be able to fine-tune the acoustic tones and help dial-in the sound they are looking for. I ran the pedal through the clean channels on my Fender Tone Master, Peavey Delta Blues 210, and my Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401. I used a Fender USA Deluxe Strat that has a pickup configuration of S/S/Sand the pickups are the standard N3 pickups. Then I used a 97’ Gibson Les Paul Standard with 490R & 498T pickups. I could get the best acoustic sounds with the Stat and the Tone Master/Peavey Delta Blues. When I ran the Strat through the clean channel on the Marshall, the pedal was less effective due to the darker sound of the Marshall’s clean channel. When I used the pedal with the Les Paul, I was able to achieve a fairly good simulated acoustic sound with the Delta Blues and the Tone Master, but not as good as the Strat and these two amps. When I ran the pedal with the Les Paul through the Marshall, I could not achieve a decent simulated acoustic sound. I could achieve some unique clean sounds, but not the acoustic sound I was looking for. To achieve a good simulated acoustic sound, I believe that the user would need to have single coil pickups or a coil tap on their guitar and access to a good clean channel that sparkles. I believe that if a person were looking for that distorted/dirty acoustic sound, this pedal can get you there. I ran the Boss AC-2 and my Ibanez TS-808 with a light distortion setting and it was easy to get that nice dirty acoustic sound that works well with some genres of music.Read full review
This pedal will give you an acoustic like clean tone with several different settings of acoustic tone. I needed to get more of an acoustic sound for several songs we play so I purchased a used AC-2 pedal. The pedal does give a good acoustic sound but when the pedal is on it drastically cuts the volume of my signal. I put a boost pedal after the AC-2 to cure the volume issue in the signal but I still had a lot of problems EQing the pedal. I had to cut the body control down to 1 and the top to about six and then EQ the clean channel on my amp to finally get close to the sound I wanted. I have tried everything I can think of to get the acoustic tone I was hoping for but just can't do it with this pedal. I have decided to get an acoustic stage stand and just keep my electric strapped on and go from my acoustic to electric for the songs that need an acoustic switched to distorted tones. I was hoping the AC-2 pedal would fix this problem but it just did'nt work for me. I have a friend who has used this pedal in his live shows for years and he loves it but it did not work for me.Read full review
This pedal is a very good fit if you don't want to carry an extra guitar or an acoustic guitar. It has a 4 mode selection which I think is pretty convenient for choosing a acoustic-electric sound. It has also a 2 eq dial knob for body and top sound which pretty cool features and what I like most is it has 2 outputs, the E.G output which you can run to the rest of the chain on your pedal board and the Direct Output which you can run the output signal of this pedal directly to other amplifier or in mixer. When you activate this pedal, the signal goes only to the direct output. Only I notice is the pedal likes the battery so much, so I would rather say don't run this pedal through battery, use an AC adapter for a good sound quality.
