When you plug into a Les Paul, right off the bat,you know where the money went. No differance here. This bass sounds fat.The neck reminds me of a Les paul, only larger.I gave up a Ibenez 5 string I was buying from my brother for this bass, without even playing the Thunderbird.Being a lifelong KISS fan,I've always looked for a bass sound similar to what Gene Simmons has had.Though The Demon never {to my knowing} played a Thunderbird on stage, this a very close comparison. However,Paul Stanley's guitar tech,Tom Harper, use one on the song "Shandi'. The only bad thing I can thing of is when my brother tested it playing The Who's classic "The Real Me",he tried to play a high note in the intro to discover it didn't have enough frets to do so.Luckily,I have little interest in playing that high on the neck.I wouldn't say it's a slapping-style bass, but, again,it's not something I want to do. Big,rich lows and creamy mids. Not really a high gain bass, but that's usually a guitar's job, anyway.Very long neck, heavy body, and fits a tall guy perfect{I'm 6 ft 2 in].In a nutshell, the Epiphone Thunderbird IV is the best bass I've ever owned. From someone of 22 years playing,I love It.Perfect Hard Rock and Metal bass.Read full review

I've heard a lot of good things about Gibson basses and decided to jump in. I was not disappointed the low end rumble is awesome. Not the most versatile bass i've played but certainly my favorite for raw vintage low end punch. On top of it sounding great it looks awesome to. It's comfortable to play sitting or standing. I'm a big fan of the bird decal on the pickguard. The neck thru body design is great for sustain and resonance. The bass never comes out tune either. it sounds great, is built with quality and looks killer. I'll probably even buy a second one.

It was exactly as described. It was in good condition and arrived in good time. Sounds absolutely beautiful and is incredibly light weight. Wish it came with a case as it's really difficult to find a case to fit a T-Bird that doesn't cost a bunch.

The Gibson Thunderbird is a great bass guitar made for rock music. I have 2 Gibson Blackbirds and a Thunderbird Studio. The studio is not neck heavy unlike the Blackbirds, and the headstock won't fall to the ground when you let go of the neck. The Thunderbirds are simple and easy to play, and are not meant for playing high notes, as they are not accessible due to the design of the guitar. That doesn't make it a bad guitar though, just easier to play! Simple and BASSic!
