The factory setup on this guitar lacked the detail that this guitar deserved. The strings were too high in the nut and the bridge saddles were not adjusted to match the radius of the neck. Fortunately a friend of mine is an excellent luthier and after he did some filing on the nut , tweaked the truss rod and bridge setup this guitar plays as good as any USA strat I have seen. The pickups may not be as good as the USA ones but without spending an extra $200 on this guitar they are fine with me. Finish of the neck and body are excellent. I did go from the factory 9 strings to Fender bullet 10's and they play just fine and keep tune better than the 9 setup. Any yes you can still bend the strings to the next octave. The 5 position pickup switch gives you 5 unique sounds. One thing I don't understand is why they didn't have the bridge pickup hooked to a tone control but most of the time I keep the tone controls at the max settings and adjust the sound at the amp. Overall this guitar is a great value and the quality is very near to it's USA relative.Read full review
I am 58 year of age, and have played guitar since the age of 11. I got very heavily into music. I had three guitars at that early age, a 1954 Gibson Les Paul....still in as near mint as Gibson has seen(that is what they said). A 1964 Fender Mustang, white with a tortoise pickguard and maple fretboard. A 1964 Jazz Bass in sunburst. I also had a 1964 Fender Bassman head and 2 Dual Showman cabinets, all in the Blonde tolex......The artwork in this Tele / Nocaster / Broadcaster / Esquire handbill is so nostalgic!!!!! Great memories. If you love Guitars, you should get one of these.....You won't be disappointed.
I really like that there is a price bracket for those of us who cannot afford the $1000+ priced Fender guitars. I really like the Classic Series 50's & the 60's Strats! And have waited for a long time before I came across one that I could afford. I bought my 50's second hand, it was in excellent condition, and I managed to get it for a great price! My only complaint was that the nut wasn't cut properly from the factory(slots were too high), but being the practical person that I am, I easily sorted out this issue. I would definitely recommend others to buy the MIM Fenders!
This guitar came straight out of the box after being mailed to my house with a perfectly set up neck. The frets were dressed better than most guitars I've played. The acoustic resonance of the guitar makes it sound fantastic amplified. I did not expect this from a Chinese-made Squier. I think some price cuts were made to make this so affordable. The pickups are okay. The plastic pickguard looks cheap. But the quality of the guitar can be felt by the controls and the tuners. The guitar is solid and sounds great. I feel like I was lucky to not get a dud, but the whole reason I bought this guitar was because of the wonderful reviews from other players. I owned an American-made '52 Reissue Fender guitar in the past. I can't say that this guitar was built better but I can say it sounds livelier and more like a tele than my former tele.Read full review
A tribute to my first Strat that I bought used in 1961. Same color and everything. This is great guitar for the money. They always need setup to get your personal feel to it as any guitar would.

Party advertised as mint condition, had a ding in the back, warped pickgaurd, several scuffs that needed buffed out but worst of all one pickup was bad, spent $100 for parts and labor to get it working properly

This is the best sounding Fender Stratocaster I have played. Just rings on every note. Sounds like the 59 vintage Stratocaster. This is better than the American Fenders I have owned, American Specials, American Standards and American Deluxe. Great neck! And of course when Musicians' Friend says mint condition it is always as new. maybe I can quit trying to find that perfect Strat? The next step would have to be the vintage models or custom. Comes with a tweed case. I would prefer the Fender Pro cases. The tweed is quite heavy. All together it weighted 22 lbs. Thanks, Wm.
