I purchased this product to add to the number of instruments I play. I keep it tuned in Chicago tuning. It makes a bit louder baritone ukulele on some genres of music. It is easy to play and sounds wonderful. This guitar has punch, but can be quiet as well. I have only experienced one other tenor and it was a mahogany, wood guitar. This guitar is not as mellow, but sounds good. If I were to change anything about this guitar, it would be that it would have a solid spruce top.
I bought the guitar from ebay due to not being able to find a good used Martin LXM in the local guitar shops. The LXM is a great little guitar for its size. Great travel size and easy to sit comfortably and play anywhere.
After reading other reviews, I had high expectations for this little bugger, but based on the really affordable price, was trying to keep those in expectations in check. I have been impressed on every level. I never expected to be able to get the quality of sound out of a little body like this, let alone one that is essentially all glorified plastic. What is really striking (maybe too much so for some) is the lows. It is really bassy compared to my other acoustics, which is the opposite of what I would expect. It seems to be tough as nails. I see a lot of applications for this, as it does seem like it will be unusually tough and care free. Travel, beach, little ones learning on a decent instrument vs. the frustrations that can come along with most low quality starter guitars, the old "parlor" guitar keeping it handy, maybe the office guitar! Great value....never thought I would afford a Martin. Obviously this is their baby, but it lives up to the reputation. Enjoy!Read full review

The Martin X LM is an excellent guitar for the smaller beginner. It's tone and volume is better than other 3/4 size guitars that I have tried and is quite playable. It is real and it is a Martin, great way for young guitar players to get started with a guitar they can handle. I have 5 and 7 year old students that have really taken to the Martin and have become even more enthusiastic about learning to play.
