It’s decent shampoo if you tend to prefer shower products that are more on the natural side like I do. This stuff doesn’t contain as much pine tar as say, a homemade soap would, or some of the smaller localized brands that make similar products. It also contains “tea tree” oil, which isn’t found in some of the other pine tar soaps/shampoos. But, if you like pine tar soap, this stuff works just fine. The “Grandpa’s” brand has also been around for a long time, and it’s probably the most widely distributed, and recognized pine tar soap, so it’s relatively easy to find.

I used pine tar shampoo several years ago. This is a different brand. Might be OK for some people but it leaves my hair to oily, and makes shower floor slippery.

I suffered from severe dry skin and dandruff. I tried everything and even the 5% Coal Tar Shampoo. My father told me how he used pine tar shampoo back in the 1920's. I then saw a bottle of Grandpa's Pine Tar Shampoo for sale at a Health Food and Vitamin Store. My severe dry skin and dandruff was cured within a few days and my hair was thicker and more manageable than ever before. My balding spot on the top of my head began sprouting new hairs in a couple of weeks and is now covered over with thin hair, but that is better than no hair! Apparently, the pine tar helps neutralize the natural compounds and enzymes that can cause hair loss. The shampoo also has allowed me to retain my auburn hair color with very few grey hairs too! My two daughters and my son tried it and will not use any other shampoo. My older daughter loves the shampoo for how thick and manageable her hair is and my younger daughter use the shampoo because it stopped her oily hair issue. The shampoo stopped my son's dandruff problem and made his hair thicker and more manageable. Grandpa's Pine Tar Shampoo is truly a miracle shampoo and I hope the ingredients are never compromised or changed!Read full review
This is my second purchase of this product. While I never had dandruff, my scalp is certainly less itchy than before. I also like how my hair feels after use. In the past, pine tar shampoos reeked for days, but there is only a mild oder while shampooing which disappears as soon as the hair dries.

I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this but I am very pleased. I have been using the shampoo and conditioner for about a week andy scalp feels healthier and it's not dry and flaky anymore. The product does have kind of a smoky pine scent but it's pleasant and not overpowering. If you have long hair like I do I would definitely recommend getting their conditioner as well 🙂 I would definitely buy this product again.

I have an itchy scalp and have tried various different products looking for relief. Grandpa's Pine Tar Shampoo is the only product that works for me. I have been using it for years. If I try something different, the itching returns.
