I bought this after being extremely impressed by my purchase of its little brother the volcano 18. But unlike the ballistic performance of the volcano 18, this truck is very tame. Not that its neccesarily bad thing but its not a fast rc. I would say it maybe hits 20mph. On the plus side for a younger kid or someone new to the hobby its quite easy to control. But a seasoned player will be wanting more speed. Also the run time of the supplied 2000mah is quite short only about ten minutes. I have ordered larger batteries. If your budget allows it i would suggest buying the pro version of this truck. Im sure its much more exciting. But for the price of this one it seems like a lot of truck for the money

I've owned Traxxas, ECX, and Armma rc's and redcats are the first brand I can't really tighten the wheels on. It will actually lock up and won't spin, so you're left with wheel with a semi loose nut. I've tightened all my other rc's to the max without any problems. It's a nice budget 4x4 aside from the loose wheels you'll constantly have to monitor. Stock motor runs hot. The pinion and spur both will strip after the first few runs.

This is the first Hobby Grade vehicle I have purchased. The build quality is impressive. I had no idea these were built so well. Parts remove with ease. Truck performs great. Tears through most terrain with ease and it's fast on pavement. The range for this is amazing! Quick and true response over 100 feet away. The one knock is the battery life. 10 minutes at mostly full throttle and it's on it's way out with the stock 2000mah battery. For such a big battery one would think it would go 20 minutes plus. Got a bigger battery @ 3600mah and I get 15 minutes but that's at a cost of $40. Short drive time is a huge disappointment for an 8 year old son. Nonrookie drivers already know these things but I didn't. All in all though, it's impressive. I never realized how much better these are over off the shelf RC cars. My advice - get a second battery right away. Also get a quick charger. The wall plug ones take way too long if you plan on heavy usage.Read full review
I bought this for my 8 yr old kid and I have to say this thing rips for the value. I was quite impressed although I was disappointed with the battery and how quickly it died, so I ordered a 3000 NiMH which made a big difference. As others have said, I would recommend purchasing a faster charger and a higher mAh battery. I stuck with NiMH only because I didn't want it to go too fast. The ESC says that it can handle Lipo batteries but I didn't bother. With a faster charger and larger battery it was perfect. Speed and durability were good. Shipping was extremely fast. Overall I'm very happy with it. I gave it 4 stars only because of how quickly the battery died. I recommend purchasing: -Fast charger. -3000 - 3800 mHa battery -Body pins. (lost a few with some impressive flips) If I had bought this for myself I would've gone with the Pro EPX due to the need for speed.Read full review
We have had so much fun. Very sturdy product. Ready to play with right out of the box. Charge battery first. Hand controller sits in my hand comfy. Takes bumps in the yard like a champ. Only bad thing I can think of is the battery wall charger, that comes with it, takes too long to charge. If you purchase another battery and or charger, make sure the connections are correct and will fit. I went to several hobby stores and found that they don't carry these brand batteries (Hexfly). With the charger I bought, I have had to use alligator clips to connect. There are adapters to purchase, will buy in near future. Plenty of videos to watch on how to do this.
