BE WARNED: This is not a replacement for your current desktop or laptop! With that being said, what bothers me most is that I've read poor reviews of the iBook's performance in regards to modern application on the web, inability to run later versions of Mac OS X, slow response times, etc. I will say this in response: deal with it. The iBook is a vintage machine that came with a paltry 64MB of RAM, 6GB HDD and a 300MHz G3 processor - in its day, that was a speedy portable computer. Keep in mind also that the web was nowhere near as intricate or consumption-hungry as it is today. So what should a buyer expect? A slow web browsing experience and limited usage with programs that require a bit of muscle, but an overall pleasant experience with low power applications such as email, word processing, or the like. Remember, this is not a MacBook Pro - I would recommend to max out its specs to the following: -576MB RAM (there is 64MB RAM soldered to the logic board; all you would need is to install a 512MB SO-DIMM card) -10GB HDD -Install an Airport card (for limited web connectivity/browsing) -OS: Either 10.4 Tiger, or 10.3 Panther for speedier performance. **I personally recommend 10.3**Read full review
I bought the product as a device that would help me stay focused during school so that I would not end up browsing the internet and getting on facebook or any other social media site. In the end I did decide to sell the item because although it did work great, I decided that I should force myself to focus instead of using money to buy a computer when I already have one.
It was not what i expected in one way and just what i need in another way. i wanted it for my son and thought it was going to be much like the other iBook i got and not like it at all. It will be great for my students....So all in all Great Buy!
This unique see thru case stood out to me...love the old school apple look...I love the new Macbook pro's too - but I find these interesting!
