It is an entertaining movie. It has one story lines with many story lines included in it. The content of the movie is sick and twisted. The story line is easy to follow. Many myths and truths are to be taken away from the movie regaurding the halloween holiday. There are minor sex scenes, and gruesome killings. This is not a film for small children. But basically the moral of this story is "what goes around, come around."

Worth a purchase. I enjoyed the interwoven spooky, Halloween night tales. Not graphic or obscene, just the right balance of fun and fright. Tame enough for kids (in my book, that is) and entertaining enough for adults.

This is an excellent movie, entertaining from start to finish, and every second of screen-time overflows with Halloween ambience. Great acting, great interwoven stories, a Top Ten on my list of favorite Halloween movies!

Trick r Treat is not your normal, everyday horror movie. There are four interwoven stories that take place with people living in a small town on Halloween night. I guess the moral of this story is be careful of everything you say and do on Halloween night, because there are rules to follow, and there might be really bad consequences. There's a strange little character "Sam", who has a sack on his head, and he appears several times throughout the movie. He seems to wander around making sure Halloween rules are obeyed, and also to carry out some of his own Halloween justice. I think this movie is a "dark humor" horror story. There's some scary things that go on, but there's also some sick, dark, humor thrown in. And, for those of you who like some "gore" in a Horror movie, yes, there's some in this one!! I don't want to ruin the four stories for you, but each one very different from the others. They each have their own "twist" to the story too. Buy it, I think you'll enjoy it each Halloween!! :)Read full review
This movie was everything I hoped for. In the tradition of horror movie anthologies such as Tales from the Darkside, The House That Dripped Blood, and Creepshow. The director weaves a delightful Halloween tale that intermingles the lives of several of the members of a small mid western town. Each story is separate but equally gruesome. You get so much in this movie, a great ghost story, a werewolf story, a serial killer story, and a story about Sam the interesting character from the front of the movie who becomes an unofficial Halloween mascot. With what has now become a tradition of a new Saw movie every Halloween, it saddens a true horror movie fan that Trick'r Treat went straight to dvd, because I have to believe audiences would have gobbled it up like a box of Good and Plenty. If you want a terrifying movie this isn't it, if you want buckets of gore you wont find it here, if you want a smart, sometimes funny, sometimes creepy, mood heavy tribute to the Halloween season, buy this movie because you will watch every Hallowen from now on.Read full review
I love halloween for it is one of my favorite holidays. Halloween to me represent anything that scare you for if heights scare you, death scare you, Hell+Lake of Fire scare you, Scary/Horror movies scare you or what ever scare you that is Halloween to me. Trick 'r Treat really bring out the freaks for it had a howling good feast, a time to rest in peace beneath, a ghoulish resurrection and more. This is a combination of different horror evens put together like in a Vantage Point way. I gave this move three stars only for the little twists and I do love Halloween other wise I would have given Trick 'r Treat/Trick or Treat two stars.
I have been waiting patiently for this to come out. I was not disappointed. A really creepy, darkly humorous Halloween movie. Too bad it wasn't released in theaters---I think it would have done very well. I think the violence towards children (instead of the usual violence towards obnoxious teenagers) is a big no-no for movies that are widely released in theaters. I enjoyed the imagery, the insertion throughout the movie of all Halloween traditions and celebrations (right down to an image of an early 20th century postcard on a television screen), and the stories that were all intertwined that went together very well. One reviewer wrote that "Sam" is an alien. Not sure on that--he looks like a deformed, monsterous little pumpkin-headed creature to me. (I got an old kids jumper at a thrift store and some burlap and made one for a Halloween decoration, I liked him so much). Anyway, I suppose with a lot of horror movies, you either love them or hate them. I have always been a huge fan of Halloween and it's traditions, and also a huge horror movie fan. This movie satisfies on all sides.Read full review

Really good, creepy movie. Especially right now that we are moving into the Halloween season. We netflix'd this movie last year around this time and thought that it was going to be a B rate movie, like a guilty pleasure intended for a few jumps here and there while the lights are off... little did we know that the movie had legs and a pretty well thought storyline. If you love halloween, you'll love tick 'r Treat.
