1st off, be prepared to spend 50 to 100 on anything you buy used. Many used instruments come in off Ebay well packed and ready to play. many do not. If your lucky you can get a used flute for around 35 to 50 and have a good, solid instrument for 100. Armstrong is a great, solid, well built flute and I have seen them back to the 1940s for sale on here. Any flute or clarinet over 5 years old will probably need pads, so you will need some pads and full adjustment on most used flutes to put them in 100% play condition. I have a 90's open hole Armstrong and a 60's student model. Both play very well and are better built than many modern ( especilally Asian) horns. I would'ent hesitate to buy another Armstrong flute based on their tone, action, and above all, affordability. They made Chrome plated student flutes for awhile which have a darker, woodier tone. Look for a Nickle or chrome example if you want a shiny flute you never have to polish. Armstrong also still has a large selection of pro level head joints to improve the sound and response of even their older student instruments. Bundy and Artely are other well built brands on here, but Armstrong is slightly better in my experience. 0 Read full review

Been looking for a flute for my daughter who is wanting to learn to play, and this was a great deal. Minor cosmetic issues that can easily be fixed, but works great. Thanks.

WT Armstrong Flute 104 is really high end student flute and compared to many new flutes even in the same brand (New Armstrong 104) It is made with so much better material in many aspects but this is true about a fully refurbished old WT Armstrong. If you are not expert in flute repairing, always buy a new or totally refurbished flute and don't waste your money on any used flute (even a good brand).

Armstrong flutes have been in the student musicians world for years, and for good reason! They're well built, easy to play and have great customer support. These flutes are great for the student musician, whether its your main flute, a back up, or your second flute for marching or pep band!
