Will lwork
The mechanic that installed the boots informed me that the "lips" were not adequate to really secure the boot at the clamp site. He said the OEM part would have been much better. He was going to install both inner and outer until he encountered this issue, but since the inner wasn't broken, he decided to leave it intact just incase the lip on the new boot failed.
