BMW claims this trans to be "sealed for life", but transmission guys know better. If you don't change your filter and fluid at least every 30K, your trans is going to fail sooner than if you had taken care of it. On this job at 100K, the fluid was already very degraded, and the trans needed some other work due to negligence. I'm a trans tech, and my wholesale cost is higher for the local brand of pan than for this part. Beck/Arnley doesn't make parts, and it's entirely possible that this pan/filter is made by the same company as makes the OEM pan, as it seems identical. I simply scraped off the "sealed" sticker and replaced the pan. If the customer thinks it's too expensive, they shouldn't have bought a BMW, right?
