A Replacement Mirror Reflecting Good Value
I broke the OEM mirror on my 2004 Astro van and replaced it with this mirror. The OEM mirror weighed more than this because it used cast metal for its hidden, inner supporting bracket that had broken; this unit uses an injection molded plastic bracket. Removal of the broken OEM unit and installation of this unit was easy. There was no need to remove the inner door panel; I removed only the small triangular plastic panel that covers 2 of the 3 bolts securing the mirror. However, be cautious when backing off and re-installing the nuts so you do not drop one down into the inner door. Then you would need to remove the whole door panel. This new unit works exactly like the OEM mirror, the exterior finish is the same color and gloss and like the OEM unit it has lettering etched along the lower edge stating that "Objects are closer than they appear." I am totally satisfied with this mirror. I consider it a tremendous value. It was about a quarter of the cost of a new OEM replacement mirror.
