If you are rebuilding a Buick oil pump, ...
If you are rebuilding a Buick oil pump, you MUST upgrade your front cover by adding a thrust plate to a V-6 or V-8 oil pump. I've been building Buick engines for 4 decades. The oil pump oil filter adapter gets chewed up, and just resurfacing it will buy you some time, but a thrust ate solves the problem once and for all, and you get moderately higher oil pressure and moderately more volume as well.
