I bought this one because I wanted an updated version of the one I have. I really liked the hard bound copy, and have used it many times over many years. This one has 377 pages of which 299 are for spelling, 4.1 pages are a basic guide for spelling. Nine pages are devoted to forming plurals of mouns, forming possesives, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. The next parts have to do with a guide to word divisions, and punctuation, which has twenty pages. The next part has to do with capitalization, which has a lot to do with proper nouns and adjectives, like how to address your Congressman or Senator, or any other important political or non political person. There are two and a half pages of abbreviations including states, provinces, months of the year, general and military, and data abbreviations. The next part adresses how to compund words, adress letters, and how to close them. Next to the last guide, is how to adress governement, church officials, and school dignitaries. And last but not least, is the guide to proofreaders marks. These guides are just a small sampling of what you need to know, but will get you there. Overall , I was dismayed at the color of the pages, as not being a white, but rather a beige or skin color, of which the hard bound version is. With the advent of spell checker and downloadable dictionary's these have become less popular, and not sure if any of today's populace, even have anything like this. I hope these printed spell checkers survive the internet.Read full review
