Old School Opteron, but a good upgrade for certain servers
In most Opteron 200 series servers and motherboards, these are a drop in replacement. These are older CPUs for older servers, but when you simply can't replace a server for whatever reason, a drop-in CPU upgrade is extremely cost-effective. Be aware that some boards may require you to upgrade the BIOS -before- the CPU. From a 242 (what I replaced with these) to a 285 is the difference between 1.6GHz and 5.2GHz. Since I was replacing 2 CPUs on a dual board, I went from 3.2GHz total to 10.4GHz total. It is really about a 2.5X speedup over original, and uses roughly the same wattage, what's not to like?Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

It may sound like a rejected Transformer name, but it's a good CPU!
