Con's: - no BIOS flashback like we're used to, so need a compatible CPU first before updating to boot with
- kinda picky about mixed DDR RAM sets
- doesn't seem to support booting from USB devices at all
- AC97 audio; something I'm not used to seeing on an nForce board.
- Some settings in BIOS are jumbled up
Mine was a "New Old Stock" condition, and shipped with 1004 BIOS out of the box. Needed a minimum of 1011 to support the extra possible CPU's. Had some trouble getting a floppy disk that was still good at first to get it flashed, and then Asus's site definitely has trouble with keeping things consistent for legacy products like this. Eventually, I did get it sorted and got it flashed to the last available BIOS (1013). Dropped in the CPU, works like a champ.
Impressed with all the ports that it does support. Its x4 slot even has the retainer clip in case you put in an x16 sized card in there; pointless though, as this one doesn't support SLI to begin with. Still, with a 7950GT, it made a great pairing and it was up and running. Just trying to figure out what parts to mix in to truly kit out a build around this great board~
I haven't confirmed yet why it failed to work but it seems the BIOS is not there or corrupted. I'm attempting to rectify this with a new BIOS chip and battery.
