The dell 2724 is a great entry level managed gigabit switch. Set up and configuration is easy. I was able to get my VLANs and trunks running in no time. If you want a simple managed gigabit switch, this one is hard to beat. Just a few things to keep in mind, - LAGG - Static configuration only, no Dynamic support - Dell GBIC inserts only for the fiber - Con: The number 1 complaint I had with this device (and a bunch of people online have this as well) is that there seems to be an issue configuring the device remotely over some networks (anything where you have to change a VLAN/go through a router). You get a Username / password was not received. The fix I found for this was to plug directly into the switch and then try again. This may be a security feature though.
My home network was a mashup of multiple ethernet routers and switches, because of the large number of devices I needed to be able to connect. This box replaced all of them, and is passing the data at high speed, just as it should. My only complaint about it is that the built-in fans, which run continuously, are a bit loud. I plan to relocate it slightly to see if I can muffle the noise without causing it to overheat.

Good small case switch. Easy to use and manage. I would recommend this unit if asked.

It was a good replacement for the switch that went down.

Works fine. Can't comment on the managed features as I don't use them. Most of the Power Connect series from Dell are pretty reliable switches.
