I picked up this processor after a defective PSU caused my motherboard to short out. After removing the heatsink, I noticed a brownish mark on the CPU. After checking the heatsink for the source of this brown mark, I was a bit iffy on trying it on a new motherboard. Found this for around $30. Compare this to a new FX chip and its a steal. I am using this in a server/transcode system, and it performs well above my expectations. While it won't win any performance awards compared to my i7-5820K, it is also significantly cheaper. In handbrake the average fps sits around 100. On the i7, I hit around 500-1000. Not too bad at the same settings.

The cpu arrived in a plastic container with no foam backing to protect the cpu's pins, most of the pins were bent and i had to carefully bend them into position in order to install the cpu. Also the 4th core was unable to unlock due to a malfunction with the cpu.

I needed to upgrade my old computer which had a Athlon 2.7 GHz CPU with 1 MB cache memory. The old CPU was to weak to handle my newer graphic card. Though, the motherboard is old and I do not afford to buy new parts so a Phenom II seemed to be the best solution for me. This CPU is a triple-core with totally 8 MB of cache memory and it works great with my graphic card, the games I'm playing runs much smother with the Phenom II CPU. Though, I was hoping that there would be a possible chance that the CPU's cores were able to unlock to a quad-core, other people who bought this CPU have3 been able to do that regarding to their commnets to the seller. But that is not a issue, I fine with it and if that would have been possible it had been a brilliant bonus. I give this Product four of five stars. It's a old model and it's not a "super CPU" but it's much better compared to my old one. Therefore I give it four stars, of course, if the cores would have been able to unlock I might have give it five.Read full review
Thats right. I lucked out on the core unlocking lottery. I can clock it up as the Heka X3 I bought @ 3.25ghz or push it a wee bit less with my core unlocking Asrock 880GM-LE mobo and get a stable x15.5 multiplier overclock and it becomes a Deneb X4 running just under 3.1ghz. Not bad for a $15 processor. Runs cool and quietly with an old Rosewill 92mm evo style cooler I had lying around.

I am really impressed on how it performed, very noticeable performance increase. Replaced my old Phenom with this upgrade. Great cpu for a budget Am3 socket motherboard PC, older stuff can still be useful and cheap(er).

Good replacement for old single core processors. I have upgraded my parents PCs which was written off by some techies and was able to significantly speed up the processing.

This is a really great upgrade if you find that your rebuilt computer it is kind of slow. I actually purchased 2 of these. I liked it so much in one computer I wanted it in the other. Both computers have the same exact mobo. I had a problem with one, when I installed the cpu, it made Windows run crazy. So I had to reinstall the old AMD 8550 and I still await a replacement from the seller. Good thing that the seller has a 30 day return policy. Always make sure of that people.
An excellent processor. This processor is listed as a triple core processor. I installed it into an inexpensive Biostar motherboard. With the 3 cores I achieved a Windows Experience score of 6.7. However, once I unlocked the 4th core (making it a quad core processor) the score jumped up to 7.2. I bought this processor in-part because I had not worked with the AMD processors before and I had purchased an inexpensive Biostar motherboard that had AMD's A2+ socket installed. I found this processor to be less fragile than the Intel processors and more flexible what with it's ability to sit in an A2+ socket or an A3 socket. Dollar for dollar, I'd purchase another one any day of the week.
overclocks well if you are lucky enough, also core reviving is available. since its BE, you can easily overclock CPU with ratio. decent CPU that can be barely compared with Intel's E8400, both overclocked or non overclocked for this price. well, if you revive a core, it becomes 9xx line up CPU which means it can be actually better than E8XXX or Q8XXX series. voltage/IPC/Heat- what do you think? its AMD. You will have to buy yourself another heatsink, though. Temp is crazy, stockcooler is more like a helicopter wings than a CPU cooler.
Activated the disabled core with Asrock mobo and now a quad core :)
