  • OLDIE BUT A GOODIE

Works great in a Dell XPS 720. I tried q9550 (slawq) and q9650 (E0) and neither worked. This chip worked great and allows me to enable the overclocking features on the machine. I use it for boinc data mining in Linux 16.04. Its great as it allows me to underclock the chip and save some power. Got it running at 2.00 ghz and the whole unit pulls right at 100 watts from the wall at full load with a Quadro 2000 and a 120gb SSD.

  • Nice Upgrade for LGA 775 Gigabyte boards

A few years ago, this would have set you back $250. Now it's around $50. If you're running an older processor, or one with a 1066 fsb, this will make a noticeable difference, especially if you raise the multiplier by 1. For example, I'm running this at 333 MHz x 10 = 3.33 GHz, and it's perfectly stable in my Gigabyte G41MT-D3P motherboard, and temps are fine. I could go higher, but there's no need in a HAM radio shack computer.

  • Core faulty

2 4 gb ram...recognized as 6 gb total. Also DDR3 ram 1333 cannot run at 1333. The previous processor was recognizing the ram, correct for the motherboard. The core2extreme was supposed to be an upgrade, but is faulty and erratic. the core runs, it's on an ASRock G41 micro ATX motherboard that has had a core2duo and a core2quad (all 3.0Ghz.) but it fails to recognize the full ram, and it is erratic.

  • old but gold

popped into a dell xps 630 i got it to 3.7 comfortably with no fsb voltage control . 11x multipler and 1348 fsb. solid compared to the q9550 whihc would not overclock past 3.1 without more voltage.
