About this product

Product Information

Enjoy smooth, responsive performance with the aid of the Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16GHz Dual-Core processor. This offering from the experts at Intel offers a wide range of tools designed to help you get ahead. The Intel Core 2 Duo provides you with a dual-core processing unit running at 2.16 GHz. This velocity is only the tip of the iceberg, though. The T7400 processor comes with the capacity for overclocking. When extra pep is needed, you will have the freedom of overdriving this chip to the tune of 2.92 GHz. Further enabling this digital gear shift is the presence of no less than 4MB of level 2 cache built into the core. Along with the front side bus rate of 667 MHz, communication between the CPU and peripheral devices remains smooth. These features conspire to give the Intel Duo T7400 snappy responses. Working hand in hand with the above-mentioned factors is the Intel Dynamic Acceleration engineering. Known as IDA for short, this feature can rev up the performance of the CPU for single thread programs. By switching the load from one processing core to the other and putting the first to rest, energy is saved. This helps the Core T7400 save resources without sacrificing activity levels. To make matters even better, this chip is created with the Intel Hyper-Threading technology built right in. Most modern applications run multiple threads at the same time, and Hyper-Threading has this covered. It routs multiple processing threads to each different core, allowing you to get more done. The Intel Core Duo T7400's Hyper-Threading capacity comes in handy in situations where virtual technology is involved. Virtualization tools consist of a suite of hardware-based features that optimize the operation of virtualization applications. Having this capability works to improve the operation of virtual machines in several ways. Intel Core Virtualization capability provides you with the ability to run multiple operating systems simultaneously on the same device. This ability can come in handy in a multiplicity of situations, including commercial operations. Virtual machine operations are also isolated from the main operating system. This separation introduces another layer of safety. The Intel Core Duo chip has several other data protection tricks up its sleeve. Intel's Trusted Execution engineering is solidly rooted in the physical architecture of the processor. This is designed with the business user in mind. It works to provide a protected memory execution environment, separating sensitive operations from the other system components. The effect of this is to erect a shield against onslaughts from malicious bits of code and viruses. The Core T7400 processing unit also brings Intel's Active Management Technology (AMT) to bear in the service of security. This tool enables managers to reach connected devices, even when powered off or missing. Being able to deploy this kind of remote control greatly enhances productivity and reach. The Intel Core T7400 also contains tools that can provide a protective umbrella over remote devices. The Execute Disable Bit function helps to identify viruses, and prevents them from multiplying across the network.

  • Best value upgrade for old quality hardware

Upgraded from a Core Duo T2050, which is a 32-bit CPU, on a 2007 laptop. This was for a laptop with DDR2 3GB RAM. Installed Lubuntu and now, I use the old but well-built laptop hardware for heavy internet browsing. This CPU also ran cooler (may be 3-4 degC) and hence the old loud fan revs up at least 20 times less often. The top of the line CPU was T7600 (2.33 GHz), but that was still absurdly high-priced. T7400 turned out to be great value. Also, a sachet of cheap thermal compound was included and I went with that. If I had used Arctic Silver, I'm sure it would have run even cooler, may be 2 degC cooler.

  • Unbelievable Value!

When these CPUs first came on the market, they cost hundreds of dollars. Now you can count the dollars they sell for on one hand. That's not an unusual technology cost curve, but it still amazes me. What first impressed me about this unit was how it was packaged. Even the package sealing tape on the box was immaculate — applied with the precision of a master packager. Someone really cared about how this little box was sealed and labeled. Inside, the CPU was safely packaged in anti-static foam to protect the delicate pins, and in anti-static foil. Installation. I've answered the question 'Is it easy to install?' with 'no,' because to answer 'yes' would be misleading. The truth is, installing the CPU was the easiest thing I've ever done. Once you remove the old CPU, the new one just drops in, and you lock it down with a twist of the socket locking pin. Nothing could be easier. On the other hand, GETTING to the old CPU was difficult and at times, very tricky (I was upgrading a 2006 Mac Mini), but with special tools, lots of patience, and the help of outstanding Youtube instructions, the operation was a complete success. The CPU upgrade breathed new life into an aging computer. Now it has a faster processor, which enabled it to address more RAM, and accept a newer, better operating system than it otherwise could have. What a bargain!

  • Works perfectly, brand new, excellent cpu replacement for older Intel iMac or PC.

Excellent, brand new cpu, works perfectly. I have as an old 2006 iMac my young son uses and wanted to upgrade the the cpu from a core duo to this core 2 duo. It is easy to install IF you know how to crack open an iMac or confident enough to follow an iFixit video on how to change the chip. Overall I am very pleased with it.

  • Intel C2 Duo T7400 Upgrade

I purchased this to upgrade an old Mac Mini model A1176 from a T2300 1.5Ghz 32bit cpu to the 2.16Ghz Cpu. You have to disassemble the entire computer to get to it, but with just the twist of a screw 1/2 turn, you can swap them out. Must add new thermal paste because the old stuff is usually junk. This is a huge upgrade. makes it at least 3x as fast as it was, Especially the L3 cache size, really helps. I have done quite a few of these and have never had one fail on me. I have never got a dead one, and they are rock solid. I think they would basically run forever. It is about 2x the cost of the T7200 but the speed boost is well worth the extra $10. Especially since these things cost more than $600 when they first came out. So in my opinion whatever you put this in, as a replacement or an upgrade, it is well worth the investment in money and time.

  • CPU upgrade

After straightening 15-20 pins it worked really well. Not a problem with head mounted magnifiers and fine forceps. Made an old Dell D620 usable again with win 7 now 64 bit. So cheap. Meant I could keep using some old loggers and older equipment without having to spend $1000’s upgrading to later versions and windows. I am very grateful for this old but new cpu.

  • Check your clock!

the previous one went into trash after miss-matching clock rate didn't fit the board. this one with 667 MHz does work. the speed gain is minimal but it runs cooler than before.
