Graphics-87/Sound-92/Controls-80/Blast Force-71/Overall=82 It's painfully apparent that while fighting games will be the first to go, racing games will follow swiftly now finding themselves on the endangered species list. The legendary Need For Speed series has seen better days. The last good one was Most Wanted, and since then...blah, just a bunch of blah. Shift was so bad I was shocked to see they're making a sequel! Overall, the graphics here aren't bad. There's lots of photo-realism in day environments, but unfortunately, the night tracks are kind of bland. Custom soundtracks are always welcome in any racing game, and it's nice to see that Sony is finally "getting it" when it comes to the marriage between video games and music. Hopefully we see this feature run rampant in 2011, assuming the PS3 is around then. The controls, challenge, and physics are pretty solid with only minor flaws here and there. The big problem is the structure of the game. The gimmick that is Autolog is not revolutionary nor is it particularly useful most of the time. I haven't played the cops or online, but I'll tell you that Hot Pursuit events don't disappoint. I get the same literal rush of adrenaline as I did years ago on the PS2, but it's just too darn hard to come by. Events are scattered about with a paltry list of cars allowed in each event. There's no structure, tree, league, car classes, or any classification of any type which results in you not caring about the super car you just unlocked because you don't know where it qualifies or when you can actually drive it! None of the cars actually become your own and taking photos doesn't help, either. This game is not an epic fail, but it doesn't add enough new content to not make it feel eight years old with a plethora of downgrades. It is in no way worth $60, so if you got it Black Friday weekend, hooray for you, otherwise, I feel your pain. Verily, verily, this is NOT the true successor to Hot Pursuit 2 but a farce and slap in the face for NFS:HP fans!Read full review
I first had this game on my Computer, but the game stopped working. So I bought it for my ps3 and it worked pretty fine. Career Mode (Offline Mode) is cool. I chose as being cop and racer. Made it to level 20 on both cop and racer. The police cars and racer cars are awesome. Hot Pursuit races, Interceptors, Rapid Responses, Races, Time Trails and Gauntlet missions were pretty fun. Some of them were hard and annoying, but I completed them. The free roam mode is extremely peaceful. No cop chases, no worrying about car health and no challenges. You drive across Secrest County with your cars. You'll still crash on the free roam mode, but when you spawn back on the road, the car get repaired. The online multiplayer is not my favorite because it's a whole lot more challenging with other players online. But to be honest, this game is super duper. Highly recommended.Read full review

My sons love this game. They are a bit too young to drive at the level necessary so I am the 'adult gamer'. I actually purchased 'The Run' prior to buying Hot Pursuit and they are similar as far as the driving goes. Watch out for spike strips from the back of competing cars as well as EMP. You won't get this from 'The Run' - Help slow down the super fast 'racers' by calling for road block or heli (not on all races) - sometimes you just have to use raw ramming power. If you like running from the cops or trying to take down racers while being a cop this game gives you that feeling.
This is not a need for speed game that fans are used to, but if your a fan of Burnout then it's alot like those games, The cars are Need for Speed and the tracks but not the controls nor the gameplay are NFS they are totally burnout, but if you like the burnout games and you want some cars and police that's typically what you would find in a Need for Speed game then you'll like this game, but if your a NFS Underground, NFS Most Wanted, NFS Shift, type of person then you will be big time disappointed. But overall I would give the game 3 1/2 stars since I'm a fan of the Burnout series and NFS series, but the game could have been way better there's no two player except online that and that sucks big time I miss the Most Wanted type of game play and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit gameplay from the PS2 they were in my opinion the best NFS games but this game is the best NFS on the PS3 so far in my opinion, maybe the NFS Shift 2 will be much improved from the old one.Read full review
