I love this Super Kodiak bow. I wanted one for many years and finally got mine. It is the best thing shooting recurve bow I have ever shot. It is smooth and powerful and really fast, especially with carbon arrows. The bow is so easy to pull. I got a 50# pull, but believe I could easily use a 55# or 60# pull weight due to the smoothness of the bow. Good accuracy is easier to achieve due to the configuration, great, comfortable grip and quickness. The quality, workmanship and materials are excellent and it is a beautiful work of art. It is easy to see why this became Fred Bear's personal favorite and why he chose the Super Kodiak platform for his three-piece take down bow. I shoot it every day and plan on hunting with it.

Beautiful bow. Shot length though. Watch your poundage choice though as it stacks aggressively past 28”.

I've owned & shot recurve & straight bows for more than 50 years. Most were BEAR bows and all of them were made in Grayling (preGainesville). IMHO, BEAR is the best production bow. I've used a Kodiak Hunter most and it is an outstanding bow, but in recent years recognize that I like the Super Kodiak best of all. Personally, I would advise getting one near the heaviest draw-weight you can properly handle. If you're deciding between a 45 and a 50, go for the 50! I like my heavier ones better. They're not only faster, but smoother too. I use both dacron and fastflight strings. Fastflight are very nice and I've had no problems with them. I do pad the bows tips with thin pigskin leather if I use FF. This is a very quiet rig! But use dacron if you have FF worries or want to be more traditional. I LOVE the grip, but some people don't. If you haven't held one, test out a friends to make sure you like the feel, and if you do -Buy a Bear recurve and enjoy it! PLUS, THEY INCREASE IN PRICE! You can almost always get your money back by selling a good Bear Kodiak if you decide it isn't for you!!Read full review
