Think you have what it takes to be the best bartender in New York City? Here's your chance to find out. Last Call! is a bartending simulation developed by Cutler Creative and published by Simon & Schuster Interactive. With writing and voice-over talent from a collection of New York City's best young comedians, Last Call! allows players to bartend for a night, compete for tips, and keep the party going into the wee hours. The sim takes you to a fictitious, hip, downtown New York bar where the booze is served as fast as the cheap pick-up lines. As the bartender, you must learn how to mix over 100 drinks, ranging from a simple shot of scotch, to the more complex, such as Harvey Wallbangers, Screaming Orgasms, and many more. You'll need to "ID" all patrons (to make sure they're of legal drinking age), charm the customers (flattery goes a long way, but don't overdue it), keep people from getting too drunk (which can get you fired!), and keep the music playing. The goal is to earn the most tips possible by the end of the night. Earning tips isn't such an easy job as you're serving the most demanding swarm of barflies you've ever met. Some of the 20 characters you'll encounter include Elan the Supermodel, who downs each drink in a gulp, then runs off-screen where you immediately hear her purging loudly, and Lydia, who's always reading women's magazines -- and constantly quotes them: "I'm not waiting, I'm doing Kegels. You can't even tell I'm doing them, can you?" Then there's Anton. He smokes constantly, has contempt for everything, and always wants to "dance, dance, dance...." He starts out happy but as he gets drunk, he gets frustrated by "American Women." Rounding out the cast is Vincent the Hedgehog, an actual hedgehog who's always complaining. "Everything's better in the woods, man. But everybody I grew up with is so provincial; it's all about food and shelter with them." Make a bad drink and he'll get mad. "This brew's bringin' on my fight or flight reflex, man. Make it again before I go feral on your ass." Last Call is not for children and is recommended for those 21 years of age and older.
