As I have gotten older I find myself seeking the distances of my past. Gone are the days when many par 5's are reachable. Instead I find myself now playing much smarter golf in order to maintain a good handicap. This means using my irons a lot more. Seeing as how I have to rely on them now more than ever in the past it only makes sense to try and make certain that the weapons I pull from the bag give me every advantage. Enter the Taylor Made Burner irons. While TM has now come out with the Burner 2.0 irons, the fact is the 2009 version is just as incredible. A nice large club face with a huge sweet spot coupled with stronger lofts means better distance. The light weight also adds to the length of each shot. And because it is Taylor Made, there can be little doubt that there is immense quality. I purchased this 6 iron in order to test the set out. After some minor adjustments to length and lie, I was able to do some side-by-side test with my older set. The results were amazing. I hit 10 shots with my old 6 iron. I used a Bushnell scope in order to measure my distances on the range. The driving range I was using had some older balls as well as some newer and better ones. I hand picked 20 balls of equal quality in order to help assure a little more accuracy. The flags I using to gauge my distances were at 143, 152, 162, and 174. After a nice warm up I started the test. With my old 6 iron I was able to consistently hit the ball around 160. I hit one of the 10 to the 174 flag; the rest were all within 5 yards of the 162 flag. I then pulled out the TM. In order to get used to its weight I hit a couple of balls just to get the feel of the iron. I then proceeded with the rest of the test. Of the 10 I hit with the TM, not one traveled less than the front of the 174 flag. And 2 balls went over the green the 174 was on and sailed to the other side. By the time it was all said and one I had gained around 8 to 12 yards. If you figure that each iron represents about 10 yards of separation, this means that I could hit the TM's one full club stronger! The iron feels solid, has a nice sound at impact, and even off center shots went the distance. You could definitely feel that off center mishit by the way; there was a tremendous amount of club feedback. So... I am sold on these irons. I plan on switching out just as soon as the opportunity arises financially. Why pay upwards of $1000 when I could get a new set of the 2009 Burner irons for about 1/3 this amount? Hope this helps!Read full review

As someone who is new to golf, and is slowly trying to determine what I like. This club was very appealing to me. Ive used it and I am in love with it! I got my club in good time, and it seemed as good as new. I love this club, recommend it to anyone.
I´ve played with the full TaylorMade Burner 2009 set for three years, it´s a great set of irons but unfortunately I broke my 7 iron original shaft and that´s why I had to purchase this used 7 iron so I could re-shaft my original club. Enjoy...
I purchased this iron to complete a set of irons that I have. The original set did not have this particular iron in it. Although the original set are "Burner Plus's", this club matches in fairly well. The club was as advertised, new, in original wrapper.
I purchased this club in an effort to get more out of my short game. This lob wedge has more feel and I get more distance. I have played several rounds with it and very happy with everything about this club. My Cleveland 60 degree Black Pearl is now up for auction!
IT SHOWED UP IN MINT CONDITION AND I CAN'T AFFORD A WHOLE SET OF IRONS BUT THIS HIT REALLY WELL, PLUS SELLER SHIPPED PROMPTLY SO I WAS ABLE TO USE IT IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE BURNER IS A FORGIVING IRON WITH GOOD DISTANCE AS THE BALL SEEMS TO TRAVEL ABOUT 40 YARDS FURTHER THAN MY STOCK CHEAP OLD 6 IRON.
The 2009 TM Burner irons ROCK. They look great at setup and you can't beat the feel when you hit the ball. A friend of mine bought a set and when I tried his I knew I had to get a set also.
