Always loved the Dead Space franchise but never played this game; kept meaning too lol. Haven't finished it yet but it is an enjoyable play-through with some unique game interactions for the Wii. The game is a prequel to Dead Space and explains some of the things that Isaac Clarke finds as he explores the Ishimura. Of course compared to the graphics for the 2023 Dead Space remake these leave a lot to be desired but certainly still playable. The game ranks your play so I may give it at least 1 more play-through when I finish to see if I can improve.

I absolutely loved the Dead Space series for the Xbox, so when my Xbox broke and was left with a Wii, I simply had to buy this game. I expected mild similarity to the original, with jump scares in a rail-shooter environment. I was dead wrong. Picture playing the original Dead Space, except with EVEN MORE immersion in a first-person perspective. That's what this game is all about. You have the same atmosphere and creatures as the original, but you see them up close. Jump scares are even more frightening because they are in your face; they take up the whole screen, and make using the Wiimote even more terrifying because it's the only thing that stands between you and what seems like a real threat. The controls are very tight with little to no questionable button choices, and are very easy to get used to (especially if you're used to combining weapons and kinesis from the previous games). Even without the zapper gun for the Wii, you feel like you are fighting for your life. The story is also well-crafted and serves as an excellent tie-in to the Xbox games. If you were a fan of the original series, you will thoroughly enjoy this game.Read full review
I have played Resident Evil : Umbrella Chronicle and Resident Evil : Darkside Chronicles and watched House of the Dead : Overkill being played. Dead Space : Extraction surpasses them all in terms of graphical fidelity, truly engrossing story telling, and intuitive utilization of the Wii Motion controls and attributes. The story in particular is the true standout with my favorite chapter of the game being one which sees a very unexpected character become the chapter's hero. What a fantastic and surprising twist in the typical cadre of protagonists in horror games like this one. I commend Visceral for their intriguing and very human choice of protagonists for this chapter. The softer sex does not mean the weaker sex, as this chapter demonstrates. My brother and I finished the game in 2 days of straight playing and we found it difficult to pull ourselves away. Anyone who wants to experience an intense story with interesting characters, excellent light-gun gameplay, novel use of Wii-mote mechanics, and very good graphics by Wii standards, look no further than Dead Space : Extraction.Read full review
First let me say, this game makes Resident evil and Tomb raider seem like a church pic-nic. Make sure the kids are asleep as it is violant and has VERY course language. Now for the game, this is one of the very few games that nes rated M and means it! It's an awesome game so far! It's nice to play a game that's NOT RACING OR SILLY ANIMATION! I think they forgot that there are still adults that like video games!! I've been gaming for 20 years, so I can safely say this is going to be a great game! I haven't played it for more than a couple hours, and the game is still moving ME through the sceens. Not sure if this will change or not. Story line is very well done. It pulls you in, so I think it's worth adding to your M arsonal...
Dead Space: Extraction received very favorable reviews, with an average rating of 82/100 on review aggregator Metacritic.[12] Official Nintendo Magazine awarded the game 84% and called it "A first rate introduction to one of the finest survival horror franchises of recent years."[13] Eurogamer awarded the game 8 out of 10,[14] while Computer and Video Games awarded it 7.0/10. IGN gave the game a score of 8.5/10 along with an Editor's Choice award.[15] The Guilty Geek said it "isn't just another typical rail-shooter" and that it "is a real game that stays true to the franchise."[16] Giant Bomb was less enthusiastic, awarding the game three out of five stars, criticizing the game's abrupt ending and short play time, although recommending Dead Space fans check it out.[17] Despite receiving favorable reviews, the title sold only 9,200 units in its first five days at retail in the U.S.[18] In their Best and Worst of 2009 awards, GameSpot awarded Extraction 'Best Game no one Played' and 'Best Wii Game'. IGN awarded it Best Shooter on the Wii. Extraction scriptwriter, Antony Johnston, stated that due to the game having an M rating, being released on Wii, being a rail-shooter, and lacking publicity, it received minimal attention. Johnston also mentions these are the same reasons the game was praised.[19]Read full review
The game is pretty good. Nice scifi horror game. Pretty creepy. The lighting affects, sounds, background music and game play all make for a good experience. Controls are pretty easy to get used to. It can be annoying at times trying to get the ammo and power-ups as some people have said. A little annoyed that you cant actually control your character. But the immersive story line has kept me playing it all the way through. All in all a pretty good game.
This is not some thrown together bogus one-off game to cash in on the Wii's love for rail shooters. This was actually created by the original Dead Space team, Visceral Games, to tell the story of the start of Dead Space 2 before the main character's arrival in that game's world. It is actually a fantastic play and a fun little story. Bonus if you already like rail shooters the way I do!

This "sleeper" has been largely ignored! it even won on Gamespot the award for "Best Game that Nobody Played". Not only this is a great follow up to DEAD SPACE, but it increases the story behind the most scary game in years and also reinvented the whole "shooter on rails" genre! Combined with the Wii controls, this lengthy experience is definitely worth it! Gory as hell too! Tolrtd
I enjoyed the interactive, role-play of the game. Changing the character that the player inhabits throughtout the game is a fun twist. I wish you could fast-forward past the dialog if you want to save time. After you've played a few times, it lacks challenge.
