I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of this item. It is made of real leather, you can smell it. It came in a drawstring bag, and the manufacturer sent a matching wrist strap, as a gesture of good will. The case consists of a carefully shaped half case, which attaches via a brass screw into the tripod socket. This screw attaches the case and also allows access to the battery compartment, and the SD card compartment. The top cover fits onto the half case with two ornate brass press studs, it then folds backwards over the lens, and the top of the camera, and is attached once again, by pop studs. Thus, this is an "ever ready" style case, you can quickly flip off the top cover, so that it hangs down beneath the camera. Of course, when shooting it can be removed entirely, but the ever ready system is useful if you suddenly see the opprtunity for a photograph. Above all, this is a very nice looking case. Personally I am convinced that looks are very important when attempting street photography. The X100 series, in this retro looking leather case is really non threatening, people smile when I get it out. This is a tremendous boon to a street photographer. I know, from my own experience, that some people do not like people taking pictures of them. People have reacted totally differently towards me if I am out with my black X-Pro 2. With the X100F, in this antique style case, it is really non threatening. I look like a harmless old guy with a film camera. Lovely reddish tan, nobbly texture, really nice :-)Read full review
