Have had mine for 9 years and it continues to work flawlessly - Printing -- it squeaks when printing but keeps on spitting out perfect B&W and reasonable grey-scale faithfully - Scanning -- Variable settings from black & white (takes 3-4 seconds per scan) through 1200x1200 DPI Full-Color is very good, but the higher the resolution the slower the scan. Supposedly can do 2400x2400 but think it only fails because it overwhelms my computer's memory / processing power. - Faxing -- works great - Copying -- accurate - Software -- Installs easily, flawlessly, and configuration/customization is relatively easy - Higher-capacity laser cartridge lasts long and prints well past the "toner low" message -- much more economical than inkjet.

When I tried to print the machine created a paper jam within its self. I cleared the jam. tried again 4 times. On the 5 th time the paper tore to where I could not clear it so I gave up and put it in the trash.. It did have new toner and drum.

I been using Brother Printers for yrs now and I am never dissappointed with them I currently have MFC-7340 and also 2140 models and I am thinking of getting a color MFC lazer from Brother. If you are like me and getting tired of buying & replaceing ink jets them make the jump to lazer printers. Does it cost more ? a little but time and engery saved more than make up for it. DRum and toner packages can be order here on ebay for far less than the box stores. You cannot go wrong with Brother and there cusomer service department is a 10+
I bought this multifunction laser @ a very good price compare to HP. it prints & copies fast has a great document feeder. I have had it only for a month, so far I have only used it for printing & copying purposes it is very fast & efficient, unit goes sleep after 5 minutes great way of saving energy it is also noiseless.so far I am very satisfied & definitley recommend it.
