What is incredible about this series is how it pulls me into its world every time i crack that pages... even if I’ve already read the story before. In this tale, it is the first time we really understand one of the darkest and most frightening elements to the great Horde from the South. How they convey knowledge and persuade the public into siding with them through perverted propaganda and brutal fear. I found myself constantly swooning from one emotion to the next while Richard battled with new opposition he never expected. Especially fighting for the simple truth while a new danger slowly devours the existence of magic. This is the first of the series to really pull away from our main characters for an extended amount of time introducing new people in new lands only briefly talked about in previous novels. While taking many dark turns and bringing to light new hopes and fears, this addition to the series plays a vital role in establishing the overall motive of the 'Order'. I truly enjoyed this book though I do consider it to be one of the weaker in the series. There still are a few small notes I’ve noticed in Goodkind’s writing I put aside for I truly love the overall story and characters. Personally, I believe a big element as to why I enjoy this one so much now is due to the fact that the following book (one of my favorites) relies so heavily on what takes place here. As for why I purchased the story, well, I've been wanting to get a hardback edition of all of the books for a long time now and this was one step in the process. I've already begun sharing this tale with friends and family. This is a series I highly recommend.Read full review
The series has not disappointed. This book as well. The price was right for a hardcover book as well.

I puchased this book primarily to complete the epic adventure that I began to view when I first watched "Legend of the Seeker" on TV. I enjoy all the twist and turns of the storyline and wonder at how whole societies, economies and lifestyles are developed by a single writer's imagination. Admirable, the imaginaton of Terry Goodkind. I liked the Hobbit, and Dune, chances are, if you liked those, you'd like this series as well.
